Genius: Song Lyrics Finder

Buggy, old ui never updated, very hard to correct and make content, lyric finder is the best on the market

Even when I look up the full name of a song, the algorithm will promote some mainstream trash that has one or two common words in their lyrics instead of the song I specifically looked up.
Since it’s community driven it’s not always properly moderated and some of the mods have egotrips on the interpretation of songs.
Also the amount of control they wanted over my latetwitter account to follow and unfollow, delete my tweets and block accounts from my account was absolutely wild.
I suspect this used to be pretty great but much like the rest of the internet has sold out to make a quick buck in the late stage capitalxtic hellscape we live in.

Genius used to be on top of the world with their innovative lyrics platform. Nowadays none of that is left. The app is full of ads, search results and navigation is slower than just googling lyrics, the app is clunky and sends you to your web browser a lot of the time anyway. Pointless to keep this installed now. Very disappointed and sad fall from grace.

The cookie consent banner is illegal in EU. The user must be able to refuse cookies just as easily as they could accept all. The Genius app forces you to manually opt out of tens of categories, while to accept you can simply press “Accept All”.

The functionality isn’t bad. But this app specifically always seems to have major performance issues. My phone will heat up using this app, and even crash. Not acceptable. Almost seems like there is some crypto miner in the background or something. A lyrics app shouldn’t be this hard to run.

Wow, I cannot believe a MUSIC focused app would add unskippable, loud video ads when I click on a lyric. I like genius.com but will be uninstalling the app until they get rid of these intrusive ads. Absolutely mind blowing how they thought this was a good idea.

Imagine you’re listening to ‘I’m like a bird’ by Nelly Furtado and you want to know if she’s actually a bird and then you press the text and an ad starts playing that pauses the song when you’re about to belt out “I don’t know where my soul is, I don’t know where my home is!”
This really sucks

The app literally crashed my phone and had to do a hard reset. Worst app I ever used. The website is really good though.

Very annoying and can’t find how to disable it, ruins the experiences by vibing hard and then having to delete an email draft because you can read the lyrics anymore.

App used to be amazing and work smoothly, unfortunately lately it has a lot of bugs which cause the app to get stuck. Would recommend to use their website instead.

Great app but scrolling through lyrics makes my phone so slow that it freezes. Should be a fix for an update?

Ik vind het een erg leuk spel. Soms is het wel een beetje moeilijk, maar als ik ff ga tryharden zijn alle levels wel te halen. Je gaat er wel van zweten hoor

Na die laatste update zijn ineens al mijn opgeslagen nummers weg en de performance is er ook niet op vooruit gegaan. Ik weet niet waar jullie een jaar geleden de verkeerde kant op zijn gegaan met codes schrijven, maar dat is letterlijk al hoelang ik en vrijwel elke Genius gebruiker die ik ken met jullie tering zooi heeft moeten dealen

I can use the app for 5 minutes before it slows down my entire phone and then I have to force close it

De titel is al veelzeggend, je batterijpercentage gaat super snel omlaag met deze app. Genius zelf is wel een toffe site dus ik raad aan om gewoon naar genius.com te gaan

Good website but the app is very slow. If you search for songs it takes a while which is annoying. If you just google it you get lyrics faster.

Can’t log in, nothing happens. Slows and freezes a lot. If it occasionally works it’s a nice app, point is it doesn’t work most of the time...
