Update after two months: app still terrible, most problems haven't been fixed.
The previous app was great. But the new version is full of problems. A selection:
- It often becomes unresponsive and I need to restart.
- The previews when skipping through a video are incorrect. When you hold still at a specific point it shows a preview of where the player currently is instead of where you hold your finger. This makes it extremely difficult to find a specific spot.
- Some video files that worked previously can't be played anymore unless I transcode them to lower quality.
- The new interface is very unintuitive. After two months of use I still find it difficult to find things.
- There are no previews anymore when skipping in Chromecast mode. This makes it virtually impossible to go to a specific point, such as after opening credits.
- Can't play music anymore (need another app). All my downloads are gone but they still take up space on my iPad.
- You can't select different audio or subtitles in Chromecast mode.
- In Chromecast mode, subtitles are sometimes cut off by the edge of the screen

Subtitles just keep going off with no way to turn back on. Press play and then after 10 seconds the app loses connection and you can’t do anything anymore at all. No pause, no stop, nothing. CC button doesn’t do anything. Can’t even choose subtitles anymore while playing. Absolute bad state now.

Update still horrible and didn’t fix any of the issues that were introduced with the update earlier this year.
That update made downloads horrible to work with. Before, you’d see the downloads and could show them as “libraries” as well, so you could see the series, or movies, or music. Then click the series and see the episodes etc. After the update, you can see only the individual items, i.e. each episode separately. So you have to scroll through till you spot the one you want. The episodes are not even in order, so might have to scroll through hundreds of items 1 by 1, no image/cover to “guide” you nothing. And once you’re in an episode, you time slide doesn’t work at all, so you can’t move forward in the episode, expect by hitting the 30s skip 60 times if you were 30 mins into the episode. (Seems that every episode is 0 seconds, that causes the time slide to not work)
How do I go back to the old version, this is NASTY! Seriously, the most horrible update for plex users that use downloads.

The new layout is a mess. I only care about my own libraryies. Now I have old 90’s shows in my opening screen. Nobody wants this! Please make an option to disable this mess and return the original settings

Ideal service for those who want to setup their own private media library. Would recommend putting some time into it and you will get real value out of it.
Subtitles on phone inconsistently mismatch for timing. Reloading does not solve this. On tv or other non-iOS devices the subtitiles perfectly match. Also external subs have the same issue and the playback options to add delay for subtitles does not work anymore.

Since the new look app update came out searching / recording live tv has been broken in different ways. Latest update of app and server and I can see shows and movies in the guide but search finds nothing from Live TV. Months of failing to get basic functionality working and actually making it worse instead, try testing your releases?

Links sent via email when you share something are completely broken. And even worse: if you have a pin it just says your pin is invalid.

Can't believe how terribly broken this once-great app has become. Casting takes ages to engage, enabling subtitles does not work 80% of the time, deleted items keep showing up in the UI... do the devs even use it themselves?

Was een prima app, nieuwe versie heeft minder mogelijkheden voor beheerder, maar is vooral instabieler. Verbinding valt vaker weg, voortva g wordt niet goed opgeslagen. Waardeloos

But I don’t understand why 20% of the time subtitles just don’t work. Endless retries and after a while it seems to magically work again. Would be nice if basic features were properly functioning.

Before the plex all was good easy to use, after the update to the supposedly new and improved experience the app is a whole lot worse. Please reverse this UI/UX update and go back to the old one.

Since the last update I can’t stream to chromecast anymore. If the app in on tv it works. Last updates. Unusable app, beter revert to when everything was good.
Normally used and enjoyed plex a lot!
Any change this will be fixed soon?

I would roll back to the previous version if only that were possible. Everything that used to be a convenient possibility has been stripped out, or has bugs now. A new experience indeed. Not one I would recommend.

Na deze update, werkt de app niet meer goed in samenwerking met de Chromecast, ondertiteling werkt niet meer, enorm balen, had deze juist gekocht omdat dit zo goed samenwerkte

Recent update made casting impossible unless you buy into a monthly subscription. Horrible choice. Just can’t comprehend what their mindset was. Doesn’t even deserve one star, but it is the lowest it will go

Casting STILL broken after 2 months, can you believe it? The eternal spinner of death is staring me, while trying to connect my Chromecast.

What ever you where trying to accomplish I don’t think this was it, please at least allow us to have to option to revert back to the old look while you figure out where this is going. Not only is it lagging and slow but strangely does not help in anyway when looking or deciding what to play. It’s not user friendly.

Plex was great as it was. This update brings that to an end. Looking for a decent alternative.
