Good price for the functionality - Limited compared to Lightroom
Short story: Photomator might make me move away from Lightroom.
Long story:
After Apple shutdown Aperture, I moved to Lightroom. Lightroom comes at a somewhat steep price for the frequency of my usage. Living without the functionality is however a worse option.
Come Photomator. For the first time in years, I found an application that might replace Lightroom on my MacBook. I use Lightroom primary to manage photos, not to edit them. Photomator tries to address the same needs. So, how successful is it for my use cases? I am hitting bugs and missing features. Lightroom is clearly the better application. But, are the problems/missing features a big enough deal to pay 4 times the price of Photomator? In general, Photomator feels snappy and does its job. The fact that it picks up changes on the filesystem live feels nicer than the synchronize function in Lightroom.
When working on the filesystem, there is no equivalent to the Map option. Although a workaround can be to multi-select photos and hit (i).
There is a bug where the (i) option frequently doesnât show the EXIF information. You need to restart Photomator to get the information to show.
What is really missing for me, and what might keep me on Lightroom are these things:
1. In Lightroom I can change the names of photos following a pattern. I find the normal photo names useless and want to at least have the date/time as the name of the file. I typically add something that describes the occasion to photos that are part of a bigger thing. I really miss this option.
2. While file management is available in Photomator, it is very limited. For example, I canât move folders. When I create a new folder (no option click but menu driven), I donât immediately get the option to name the folder. The folder may even be hidden as it could be inside another folder that I havenât opened yet.
When these two missing features would be there, moving from Lightroom to Photomator would be a no-brainer for me.

Ventura
I was curious about Photomater and toyed around on my iPad (where I could not find a search window for pictures?). But it seemed like a goog alternative to LR. Then I bought the lifetime subscription.
On to my iMac to download the desktop version there... Turns out you need Ventura, and my iMac 27" does not support it. So I need to find a was to cancel my lifetime subscription. Real bummer.
Would have been nice it this was made clear in the App Store.

Very nice
I like photometer a lot, the perpetual license model is a big win! However, I tried to contact support for a minor issue (Fujifilm X-T30 iii RAW support) and found no way of contacting support. It’s almost as if Apple has forgotten that they have aquired these great products.
