Notability: aantekeningen, PDF

I really like the app on itself I have no remarks on that. I just have a wish for future updates, it would be nice to switch more easily between notes or to maybe even see 2 notes simultaneously. I hope this is achievable.

Ik gebruik al jaren deze app met veel plezier… nu blijkt dat ik lange tijd terug een negatieve beoordeling heb geschreven vanwege vermeende bijkomende kosten. Aangezien de klassieke versie nog steeds voldoet voor mijn behoeften, wil ik alsnog rectificeren: al mijn belangrijke documenten en informatie zijn veilig opgeborgen, eenvoudig oproepbaar en waar nodig te delen. Kortom, uiterst stabiel, bruikbaar en betrouwbaar!

I paid for this app and the developer decided to go for a subscription model and is bashing users who paid for this app every time within the app. I switched to GoodNotes and did the one time payment. No subscription there. I like their approach for: if you want more functionality, just (once) pay for it and you get it.
Update 9 sept 2026: Classic is back, nut now I need an account to use the app. I can synchronize with iCloud, so no account needed. Still one star review.

Ik gebruik deze app al heel lang voor onder andere mijn studie, het fijnste vind ik het kunnen indrukken van mijn pencil voor automatisch gummen. Door de update werkt dit niet meer in de instellingen is dit ook niet aan te passen, nu moet ik continu klikken en handmatig wisselen, juist omdat dit eerst niet zo was heb ik de app gehaald. Erg jammer, ik hoop dat dit weer terug komt of dat er een instelling voor komt

Notability has been my go-to for everything, meeting minutes, notes, planning, idea-capture for more than 10years. A key feature it’s ability to incorporate screen-grabs and images as part of a document.
The latest version is clunky with a significant reduction in usability. For example, it does not support text wrapping around pictures (which used to a a breeze). All-in-all, it now works quite clunky with a poor screen appearance as well (eg. Line spacing). Not a happy camper here.

I used this app to write notes and study for exams and it works really well. I used an apple pen and with that my experience was wonderful, there were many different pen/highlighter/pencil colour options. I was also able to upload pictures from photos and get ai summaries and quizzes, all related to what I wrote. All of this was without paying for anything, but I haven’t used many folders, so I don’t know if there is a limit. There were also functions like two finger tap to undo, or once you use the rubber, it automatically goes back to the last used pen. Overall it was a great experience

Since the new update it shows the Apple Pencil hovering, which I find very annoying. Cannot turn it off anywhere in settings! Do not want to turn it off for the whole iPad. Please fix this! It’s not listed under note editor/handwriting and drawing

I used this app for 5 years. Aside from downgrading people who bought the app, the app has become such a nightmare with notes disappearing and failing to sync to iCloud that I will be switching. Honestly do not use this app if you care to access the notes you make.

Started using this app 2 years ago for my study. It worked fantastically at the time and the price and quality were in good proportion. my workflow improved, allowing me to analyze many more scientific articles per week than usual. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing increasing problems with the app for a year now, since they built in AI functions. The advantage of this function is that it can automatically summarize and quiz - a really fantastic feature for exams. Only shortly afterwards a major problem arose: letters from literature (books, articles, photos, summaries) are usually no longer recognized as letters and words. As a result, I can no longer search in the papers, the AI ​​functions no longer work and it takes me a lot of extra time to find the right information - while this function works just fine on the average Windows PC. If this problem lasts much longer, I will unfortunately have to switch to another app, because this is simply not wort what I pay for and why I started using it at the first place. If this ‘letter regoinition’ function would work well, I would recommend this app to everyone. However, now this flaw is at the expense of my time and therefore my study results: such a shame of such a well designed app

I updated my iPad yesterday and now my notability looks really weird. The tools bar has half the range of possibilities it had yesterday, it is asking me to subscribe to the app even though I paid for the one time subscription in 2021, and it looks and feels weird to use the app. How do I go back to the old update? If it's impossible I'll have to switch to another provider.

My pdfs reside in the Dropbox app. Each time I want to import a pdf, notability says that it does not support the format, which, of course, is not true. I have to save the file elsewhere first and then import it. Most of the time it imports it ok then even if the message of unsupported format pops up again. Overall, a major pain.

Ik werk inmiddels 3 jaar met Notability, en ben zeer tevreden. Gemakkelijk en snel toegankelijk.

Ik moet er nog achter komen hoe alles werkt maar ik vind het een leuke systeem top app

Schrijft en tekent heerlijk. Soepele gebruikservaring. Maar synchronisatie via iCloud is waardeloos. App gaat op onverklaarbare momenten àlles synchroniseren en blijft dan tot een uur onbruikbaar. Gebeurt ook middenin het maken van notities.
En het ligt niet aan hoeveelheid opslag op iPad of in iCloud.

Upgrade and updates impossible due to incompetence software developer. Useless software.

Every time I reopen the app, all notes have to load again which takes several minutes (!). It really impairs the function of this app and I will 100% not renew my subscription next year.

After years of using Notability it is now not usable. Notes disappear, syncing with iCloud is now causing all notes to vanish, on PC it's still in beta and not working with other devices. Today I ended my subscription. Thanks for the past en I hope you decide to stop or improve.
