Foresight and knowledge
MeerDear FA
I am an Ethiopian who lives in Addis Ababa. Although I have worked for Ethiopian ministry of foreign affairs in the past, I am a human rights lawyer and advocate now. I discovered FA about seven years ago when I lived in The Netherlands
When I moved back to Addis five years ago, my greatest fear was to lose my subscription to FA and a few other publications I love. The reason I read your magazine so avidly is first and foremost because it makes me feel connected to global affairs. I always felt that the magazine did more than dish out information_ it provided knowledge.
I was just rereading Fareed Zaharia’s article titled The Self Doubting Superpower from the best of 2024 and was amazed at how much of what he said would happen actually happened.
The only thing that I would wish to see more of on FA would be more experts from Africa and content about Africa. It’s still a continent that matters.
Thank you,

MeerThe content of Foreign Affairs is outstanding, I can recommend anyone to download and subscribe if you’re interested in quality foreign affairs opinion. When it comes to the app, it mostly functions well. I am losing my progress in an article every time I lock my phone or close the app. This could be an issue on my phone or missing functionality in the app. Hope that, if possible, the problem might be resolved. Thankyou!

MeerGuys, fix the damn bug. Really tired of scrolling back to where i left off after returning to the app :(

MeerCould you please synchronise saved articles across website and iOS app?
Could you please make a button on the website to go to the iOS app?4door Eti****02/11/2023Great Content, App Needs Improvement
MeerI've long been a fan of Foreign Affairs for their top-notch journalism and insightful analyses of global issues. Their written content is excellent and worth every penny of the subscription.
However, the app experience leaves much to be desired. Despite its clean design and easy-to-navigate interface, it falls short when it comes to functionality. I've encountered multiple bugs and glitches which detract from the overall user experience.
One persistent issue is with the subscription status. Even though I've purchased an active yearly subscription, the app often fails to recognize it, especially when attempting to use the search feature. This is a major inconvenience and hinders my ability to fully access the content I've paid for.
Additionally, the app lacks several functionalities that are available on the website. It's particularly frustrating that I can't access articles online directly through the app. In 2023, I'd expect a seamless online-offline integration for a better user experience.
While the content remains compelling, the app experience itself feels outdated and cumbersome. I hope to see improvements made in future updates. I believe an organization with the caliber of Foreign Affairs can definitely deliver a digital experience that matches the quality of their journalism. Until then, my rating stands at two stars.2door Gor*****27/07/2023Really nice! Small suggestion to developers.
MeerI love the app! One small addition to the features that would be very helpful for me is in the Thumbnail mode an overview or icon that shows whether audio is available or not. I really enjoy listening to the audio versions during my commute.
Edit: love the audio feature! Amazing app!5door The*******30/01/2020Simple but nice app
MeerThe app is simple but does the job perfectly fine. However, there are two features that are missing making the app online fine instead of great or perfect.
First, it would be nice if there were an option to download the magazine as pdf so that you can save it and read it without the FA app. Now you have to download each issue via safari.
Second, I would highly appreciate support for splitscreen usage of the app. The articles leave a lot of blank white space both left and right of the text (I’m using an 11” iPad), which is all lost space that I would prefer to use in a note taking app via splitscreen functionality. This would boost productivity and therefore usefulness of the app immensely.
Implement these two things and it’s no doubt a 5 star app for me. Without these features (especially the second one), I cannot give it more than 3 stars unfortunately.3door Bla*******25/09/2019Really nice! Small suggestion to developers.

5door The*******19/02/2019Disapointed
MeerIt disapointing that the subscribtion to this app does not give you the right to read the articles that are presented in the app in between the magazines. Also disapointing that the customer service is not reachable to answer questions about this. They do not answer the phone an do not react to email within a day.
