I have been using PredictWind for several years now with pleasure and succes and in the years PredictWind has developed as well which makes it complete and indispensable for all serious sailors

Advert will show you functions like sail route planning, so they’ll take all your personal data BEFORE you even install the app, and then you find that basic functionality is very limited and any non-standard functions require upgrade to premium. Immediately deleted this app.

Ik gebruik PW nu ongeveer 2 jaar en het is een vaste routine geworden om routes vooraf te plannen en ook onderweg constant met de laatste updates te werken. Ik zit in de Carieb en het valt mij op dat de voorspellingen vrijwel altijd onjuist zijn. In de meeste gevallen is de windsterkte zo’n 5 a 8 knopen te laag ingeschat, welk model ik ook selecteer. Ook 5 daagse voorspellingen zitten er vaak naast. Lijkt er een goed “window” aan te komen is dat weg 1 dag tevoren. Als compensatie gebruik ik ‘gusts’ als ‘average’ maar dat lijkt mij toch niet de bedoeling. Of mijn instrumenten zijn niet goed, maar die heb ik bij mede zeilers gecheckt.

After the last update, this app wants access to personal Apple Health data. I do not see why this Weather app needs access to this data.
Because of this, I rate this app with zero stars. Also, Apple should investigate this and needs to take the appropriate action.
I will cancel my subscription to this app.

Ik had een abbo. Zat 3 weken in Kroatië en 70% klopte het het weer niet. De normale weersvoorspelling standaard van Apple was beter. En gratis.

Je moet een account aanmaken. Ben er niet aan begonnen.
To the developers: using an account to store preferences is one way to do it. Sessions are another way. Making it obligatory to using an account is locking users to tracking. If you are not tracking, one of your toolkits is.

Can not add even one location without upgrading. So, can not judge the quality. Won't pay without trying.

I use the app for planning all sailing trips. But the last update is not an improvement. Became much slower, colours less clear and the user interface with buttons at the wrong place and worse control as before. Can we get the old version back please?

PredictWind is the only wind prediction service that I know that has their own models, tuned to sailors. Also very high resolution grib files for popular areas. For me, sailing across (half) the Atlantic this year, the best feature is the capability for them to route my boat with only a minimal data connection needed whilst having only satellite communication available, and their when-should-you-leave feature.

Since the latest updates even more useful. Excellent information and for the North Sea/German Bight area almost always dead on in its prediction. 5 stars from me.

High usability and very good trending. Also extensive and broad coverage of functionality. A must have for every windsurfer, kiter, sailor and other water sports enthusiasts.
