Lose It! – Calorie Counter

I only downloaded LoseIt because there are almost no decent calorie-tracking apps out there. The one-week free trial actually felt solid – clean interface, easy logging, everything worked. The second the trial ended, the free version turned into a complete disaster: basically everything locked behind paywalls and one giant screaming ad after another. At that point I already knew the developers were only interested in milking users.
Then the 50% off yearly subscription pop-up appeared. Normal price is $80/year for what is literally the simplest possible calorie counter. That’s already absurd (it’s the price of a full AAA game for a basic tracking app), but with no real alternatives I bit the bullet and paid the discounted $40. Big mistake.
The second I subscribed, the harassment started all over again. Daily pop-ups pushing a “lifetime” deal, framed like they’re doing me a favor. I already paid them a ridiculous amount and they still won’t stop trying to squeeze more money out of me. It’s disgusting.
And here’s the worst part: even with premium, the app is shockingly unfinished. You can’t copy a food entry from one day and paste it on another day – you can only drag inside the same day. Accidentally log something on the wrong date? Tough luck, re-enter everything from scratch. No portion-to-grams converter. Recipe builder is laggy, half-broken, and basically useless. No repeat-last-day function, no bulk copy/move, nothing. It feels like the entire development team is busy designing new money-grab offers instead of fixing these fundamental, obvious missing features that every other tracking app has had for years.
This isn’t a premium experience – it’s a poorly maintained free app with an aggressive paywall slapped on top and endless upselling. Save your money and look elsewhere. This app should not be on the store in its current state

Ever since the latest update the app doesnt install anymore. I tried updating multiple times, deleted the app in order to try and download again and now i cant get it back at all. I restarted my device several times. Other apps install just fine, so the issue is with Lose It. Pls fix issue asap, i love this app and dont want my subscription to go to waste!

Brilliant aspects but also some clear shortcomings: no apple watch, no useful widgets to add meals with 1 click, cannot say which food use default (saves a ton of work) and need to click 5 to 6 times to add one meal.
Not an issue if you use it once. But if like me you have been using it for years that is a lot of time wasted. Please streamline!

First of all: to even check if you can tweak things, you’ll have to purchase premium due to features being locked behind premium. You can’t input your own custom macro’s. The app will only let you choose specific pre-designed ‘nutrient goals’. Contacting support they send you to a support page of probably a couple years old. I doubt they use their own app. Even their online bot explains (your own) custom nutrient goals are not possible.

I was happy paying 4 eu a month, and then they put me on a yearly subscription, which would be fine were it not for the fact its not lifetime, they do offer a lifetime subscription for the same price but will only offer it at random.
Too bad if they didn’t pull that move I would be cool.

Tiring to keep adding the same.
Also add option to fill week by default with the same as last week. Then one only needs to change what needs instead of all.
It gets very tiring and useless. It could be so much simpler! See above.

The app is very simple in use and to get my Garmin stats in I purchased the app after a couple of days which gives me the possibility to scan products which works very well even recognizing local stores.
The only thing I’m missing is the Dutch translation as sometimes this could make it easier when everything is new to you.

This app has helped me lose weight and maintain my weight loss but when I had a borderline eating disorder is was partially because of this app. It promotes eating as little calories as possible: i ate 800 calories while growing because the app called it a ‘positive’ pattern when I ate so little. Now I’m trying to gain weight and unfortunately I will have to use a new app for gaining weight.

Superfijne app, hij registreert waar je bent en kan zo de producten herkennen in het buitenland. Dus zelfs op reis handig om in te vullen. Goede verdeling tussen KEV en meerdere voedingspatronen waaruit je kunt kiezen, maar je kunt ook custom kiezen en zelf alles instellen.

I’ve been using this app for years now. The best way to keep on track with a healthy lifestyle. It really helps to give an insight on what goes in your body and what are your daily calorie intake limits. Its helping me lose weight fast.

I’ve been on a weight loos journey all my life and seriously only with Lose It! I was able to reach and stay on my target.
I recently noticed they announced that there will be no more website support - which I used to enter the recipes.
I do like the app. Would be great if they could introduce some AI in food capture.
They also have huge barcode food library.

As a MFP refugee I really am happy with the app as a replacement It is intuitive and had some nice bonus features
Also love the fact that it is not as eye watering expensive as some of its competitors
I do miss two features though
1 Simply liking a statement of my friends acknowledging that I have seen and read it Now I have to reply in the feed to let them know
2 pictures I can upload my pictures is meals but no pictures in the newsfeed or groups
This would so help with the interaction

Ik vind de app fijn om te gebruiken. Wat ik nog graag toegevoegd zie worden is een soort van dagboek-optie om notities bij te houden over je stemming en gevoelens. Deze kunnen immers mede van invloed zijn op de voedingskeuzes die je maakt. Het bijhouden van die informatie kan je wellicht patronen laten zien waarmee je dan aan de slag kunt.

They make some features free and after you used it for a while make them paid. This is fundamentally unfair and disappointing. If I knew that those features are paid I would have never started using this app. I warn everyone to be aware of that.

This app was never great (lost my data a number of times and I had to start over), but I kept using it because it had good product library. Now they made scanning the product bar code with a camera is a paid feature. I feel they are forcing my to pay because of the long standing commitment I had. I cannot recommend anyone using this app.

For some reason the barcode scanner has been locked behind a paywall. Eventhough I could use it in the past. Without the barcode scanner this app isn’t useful to me, because it suddenly takes a lot of time to log my food.

I have an iPhone 12 pro max with the latest iOS. The past couple of weeks/months the app frequently freezes forcing you to restart the app.
The app is genius but the implementation has serious shortcomings. I start looking around for an alternative.
