Couchsurfing Travel App

’s not as good as it used to be. I used to use Couchsurfing a lot, but now the app charges a fee and there aren’t many active users anymore. It doesn’t feel worth paying. There just aren’t many people you can meet or stay with through the platform anymore as I guess they also don’t want to pay.

It would be amazing if there would be a map function to visualise hosts. For travels such as bike or so.

Yes, the app sucks.
Can't activate the Hangout Mode. Asking help from the Tech Team, they can't also help.
If i decide to hang out with anybody, can't see their messages on time.
And yes, you have to pay. This app has no sense anymore.

Last year I hosted a few travellers who visited my hometown. It was a great experience.

Personally, I love this app and always recommend it to my traveling friends. It has saved me in life more than once and given me a pleasant and interesting experience that can only be obtained thanks to this app. I think that the annual subscription is worth the money and it is normal that it exists.
The only thing I would like to say about the downsides is the periodic freezing and platform glitches, especially with a large number of messages and the ability to write long messages. For this - one star. Hope you will fix that! Anyway thanks to the creators! We love you!☮️

As a solo traveler I love to sometimes meet other travelers to hangout or explore.
The app is very convenient in many ways. I am happy I joined

First of all, my hat off to the creators of this wonderful platform. Made friends all over the world by hosting in Amsterdam since 2014. My only issue is that I have to pay the subscription fee anyway, while I only ever hosted, and didn’t stay with anyone. In my opinion an exception can be made for hosts, because they facilitate the whole platform.

You can meet great people with this app but over the past years it increasingly became a sex app for gay men. I’m not sure if I will extend my subscription in the future if they don’t fix this.

Please be very careful as they tend to charge you for the highest possible amount as soon as you provide a credit card authorization. I purchased a monthly subscription, but they deducted the amount of a lifetime subscription from my credit card. Their support team won’t accept this even though I provided a screenshot from my Apple iCloud Subscription which still said I had a monthly subscription expiring in less than 30 days.
I now have to contact my credit card provider and have them reimburse the transaction.
The strangest part is that they charged me for a lifetime subscription, but my account has just one month of full access and I have to keep paying for the monthly subscription to keep my lifetime membership which is paid already. I’ll delete and never use this App again.

Host people for free, no action if someone steals from your home, profile and references deleted if you do not pay them. Very disappointing policies. Host people for free and still CS expects you to pay monthly for the subscription. Good app for freeloaders and gold diggers, but bad for sincere hosts.

Love the app, easy to use, everything seems working. Only thing that could need some work is hangouts.

I just payed I confirmed that I used the app a couple of hours without problem but now I can’t use it anymore! is asking me for the payment AGAIN

Deleted my account, not gonna pay just to host people. And the extensions never worked

Since in some countries including Iran, people can not pay online (they don’t have access to any banking/ e pay….or any other payment system) I know many people who lost their access

I am so sorry, how I feel cheated now. It is an unclear construction and you know people are paying it by mistake. If it was an app you didn't want to scam you guys gave something of a reflection period but you get sent a receipt and that's it. It is very clever but my heart cries when such things happen. I hope you guys show that I am wrong and you are a good organisation.

Been happily using the platform for years and paid my part for using the platform. Lately logged in after a while being inactive, couch surfing suggested I fill out my credit card info to get the “official checkmark” to look more trustworthy. Only to find out later I paid €59,99 without ever consenting to such amounts for any withdrawal! There was no way to claim a refund or a send a complaint. I don’t want a checkmark for 60 euros as I’m already paying standard fees. This damaged my trust in the platform I once used to absolute love so much :(

Sinds corona crisis, the app became paid and not free, i was actief for 3 years there and I accept always people for free and i used it only once outside the Netherlands. When it become paid, I deleted it .
I will not pay money to host people for free.
