Volumio

Nice app, good artist info. But too much handling to get things going. First tap an artist to select. Then a second tab to see the artists albums.
Then tap an album to select and another second tap to open the album. Then another tap to select a song and another tap to play it.
That is at least 6 taps to get a specific song playing.
Why? Tap = open.

App delivers as promised. Only the dependency on MDNS is not always helpful in segmented networks. A nice feature to this application is the option to hard set an IP address.

Set up is not possible without ethernet cable connected. It will not connect with Wifi

Works like a charm with my Raspberry Pi, but only once you get it set up properly.
May take some time and effort to sort out the connection though, especially if you have not allowed the app access to your location…
The app requires location data to enable you to jump into the WiFi selection. The WiFi connection in turn is required to set up Volumio for the first time on Raspberry Pi.
During my initial attempts to get it running I denied the app access to location data (thought it didn’t need it). It got into an endless loop of trying to find Volumio devices, which it couldn’t actually search for since it had no WiFi access…

In more complex networks setups with more than a single lan network the app fails to find the Volumio device.
Please allow us to specify the ip address manually if the app does not find the Volumio server.

During configuration of the volumio player it enters a ‘configuration updated - player restarted’ loop. Never got it to play a single piece of music.

It worked great last summer, I could manually enter an IP, now if forces an ‘easy’ setup mode. It should also have the option back for manual IP entry. My volumio server is on a different subnet. Idk why this has been removed. Such a shame.

App has same interface as web version, but let’s you choose between different installations in your network at startup. For me it is a bit more stable and responsive than the web interface. Do you really need it? Check out the web interface first and if this is OK for you then stick with it. Personally I like the idea of a dedicated app for my favourite music player.

The app is working OK.
But today I gave my iPhone X a fixed ip address.
As a result the Volumio app does not find my RPI Volumio radio. It even says that I should connect to a wifi network while I’m connected to my home network.
Can this be fixed?

after launching, you can control your volumio, but when bringing the app to front after e.g. 15 minutes it hangs. totally ennoying. reason to kick out volumio

Using it or trying to use it with MiniDSP SHD. In one word: horrible. The interface is really bad and normal functions that work ok in the Spotify and Qobuz app such as random play don’t work.

This app is just a web browser that shows exactly the same web interface as when using a regular browser. This app is not worth the money.

The “APP” only offers a selection of the running Volumio instances. The other functionality is offered by the mobile web interface of Volumio!

Since yesterday I am a Volumio Superstar customer and I am very disappointed in how instable the software is. Especially the apps, they crash every 5 minutes. If you check the update history you will see that Volumio puts little time in this app so I dont think this will ever be a app worth your money.

Don’t buy this app. It’s just the webinterface inside a app. Just add a shortcut to the webinterface to your home screen! I feel ashamed that I paid for this!
