Uzu, An Interactive Light Show

After the 64-bit update Uzu has become even prettier. Now running in retina mode and with plenty of movements to play around with, you are guaranteed to have to enjoy watching those pixels fly across your screen. It also has an "auto finger" mode whereby it simulates fingers pressed on the screen so you can have it play wonderful patterns and effects without needing to interact with the app. Great for displaying on an Apple TV if you have one. Built-in screenshot mode is now also available (but not yet video recording like Frax) plus a whole new interactive menu on screen to quickly set your preferred preset. Awesome!

Despite not being optimized for a retina display, it is without a doubt the best kinetic particle visualiser. I have tried many, both free and paid apps but Uzu stands out above all the rest. You can use up to 10 fingers to create the most amazing particle shows on your iPad. It comes with many presets that you can flick through or you can create your own. It's also possible to let it 'play' by itself and you can just sit back and enjoy the show.

Echt een mooie app. Het betoverd je en brengt je in een trance. Eigenlijk kan je er niks mee. Het is geen game ofzo. Maar toch ben ik er uren mee bezig. Dit laat je niet los! Echt te gek. Kunst + Technologie = uzu. Hulde aan de makers.

This app is terrible. I just can't stop playing with it. The same happened when I discovered the control keys in iTunes Visualizer. Many hours, evenings, lost... I could have done so much: write articles, reply some emails, be funny on Twitter, but no... Here I am, fiddling with my fingers on a piece of glass, mesmerized by a swam of vectors... They're blue and green now... Look, they're flexing, ain't that nice ? And - woosh - there they go again... 5 Stars, definitely !
