Ulysses Mobile

Guys, I’m sure that’s not what’s suppose to happen. But after downloading and installing the app on my iPhone literally nothing happens. It just says welcome and there’s a yellow ball jumping up and down!

I saw some negative comments, but I tried it anyway. Immediately after launching it pops up a payment screen (with 2 weeks trial). Fix your trial, happy to pay for a good app, but not if you shove it in my face the second after downloading, while not even being able to see anything from the app.

Ambachtelijk, van schrijven, redigeren, spelling- en stijlcontrole, opmaak tot publicatie in velerlei formaat en direct op enkele bekende media, te weten Medium, Ghost en WordPress. Ik heb niet alle apps op dit gebied geprobeerd; ik hoef met deze vind ik echter niet verder te zoeken. Best tof dus.

Als je schrijft, of dat nu een liefdesbrief voor je buurmeisje, een essay voor school waarin je flink tekeergaat tegen het gedachtegoed van Sartre of een boodschappenlijstje is, en je houdt er van om alles in één overzichtelijk programma te hebben, dan zou het bijna blasfemie zijn als je Ulysses NIET zou gebruiken of op z’n minst uitproberen. Je gaat er geen spijt van krijgen en zo wel, dan weten jullie mij te vinden om verhaal te halen.

I use this app thoughout every day, for both writing and taking notes for writing with my phone. I previously had one issue with a bug on Mac, which had been bothering me sinds april 2019. Support was great and included me in their attempts to fix the bug, gratefully listening to all my feedback. It's taken some time, but at the time of writing, in march 2020, the bug has been fixed with the most recent update, removing the last issue I had with this program. Ulysses is precisely what I've always wanted from a writing program, and considering the amount of time I spend using it, five euros a month isn't all that expensive. Thanks a lot for a great product!

I don't think it's nice to manipulate people, I downloaded the app, but I couldn't do any when I opened it!
It's bad, so bad

For me the best writing app there is on the market. I like its simplicity and clean UI, and the typewriter mode makes me more focussed on what I’m writing. The text size is clear and writing my novel from my iPhone is also such a joy!

I was really excited for this app,
but you have to pay for it.
You can’t even have a free version!
I think Useless was a better name for this app..
Oh and great app for starters?
So kind that they have to pay so much for it!

These are my 3 wishes for in a writing environment:
- Superb design and ease of use
- Syncing across platforms
- Usage of txt-files or a way to export to txt-files
Ulysses *almost* enables this.
I've used the app "Drafts" to quickly prepend text files in a txt-file synced in Dropbox that I could then view beautifully in Ulysses on my Mac and iPhone.
In theory, using Dropbox allows me to fully control my text files. However, my office uses PC and doesn't allow syncing Dropbox, so there's no easy way to view my text files on my office PC. Viewing text files on Dropbox on the web is a horrible user experience. I've always just accepted the fact that the "cross platform" box wasn't ticked.
Since changing to a subscription model, Ulysses hasn't dramatically changed. I hoped you would build a web app or, even better, full fledged cross-platform support. The to do app "TickTick" is a great example of an app that supports almost a dozen platforms. I gladly buy into such a service.
As for my notes, I've prepared leaving Ulysses. I've moved all my notes to Google Notes which is free(!) and works cross platform. I'm going to have to accept a big loss of features and ease of use, but being freed from Apple's ecosystem shackles draws me in. A way to autosort my notes into categories using AI is something I would expect from Google rather than from Ulysses anyway. Ulysses will probably forever iterate stuff like the code block tags, text counter and sharing and exporting options. Yawn.
I'm not really a writer, but a note taker that wants something that's easy and excellent. I waited for another level of excellent functionality and after a few years I'm giving up. I hope you'll consider going cross platform and broadening your target audience. My use case, I think, is an untapped niche.

But I’m not going to pay a subscription to use this app after 2 weeks. generally I don’t use apps with a subscription payment model. I have no problem to pay for a good app. Once however .

I would love to pay for this app and be able to use it..
But the subscription is really a breakdown and not worth it

After paying twice for the App (iOS and Mac) a hefty subscription fee is introduced. Screwing with loyal customers, seldom results in success. Bye bye Ulysses...

when you just paid through your nose for an app , and then get screwed royally because they switch to a subscription model and they try to force you to pay more..
(there is only one thing left to do. take the loss & remove it.

De beste writing app. Ik gebruikt het al jaren. Ze zijn kortgeleden overgestapt naar een abonnementenmodel. Dat is het zeker waard en is het lijkt helaas de enige manier te zijn dat ontwikkelaars een app kunnen blijven ontwikkelen in de App Store.

Een abonnement van 40 euro? Je moet wel gek zijn om deze app nog te waarderen. Probeer het niet eens.

Dit was één van mijn lievelingsapps, maar geen enkel stuk gereedschap is een kostbaar maandelijks abonnement waard. Dood- en doodzonde dit.

Net een hoop geld voor betaald. Hun compensatiemodel is lachwekkend.
