I had lessons for a few years when I was really young, so when I was asked during the enrolment phase of this app what my level of experience was and which pieces of sheet music I could read and play I was positively surprised, thinking that would affect my experience using the app. No such luck, I’ve had to start with the essentials courses, and it’s really boring having to sit through these really easy exercises and songs. It’s feeling like a chore at this point and I’m left wondering how much longer it’s going to take until I reach the fun stuff that will teach me something I don’t already know. Why not just have a short refresher course for more experienced players and then let them get on with it themselves?
If you’re going to ask users for their level of experience and then never use that information anywhere ever, don’t ask.
