Notability: aantekeningen, PDF

I updated my iPad yesterday and now my notability looks really weird. The tools bar has half the range of possibilities it had yesterday, it is asking me to subscribe to the app even though I paid for the one time subscription in 2021, and it looks and feels weird to use the app. How do I go back to the old update? If it's impossible I'll have to switch to another provider.

My pdfs reside in the Dropbox app. Each time I want to import a pdf, notability says that it does not support the format, which, of course, is not true. I have to save the file elsewhere first and then import it. Most of the time it imports it ok then even if the message of unsupported format pops up again. Overall, a major pain.

Ik werk inmiddels 3 jaar met Notability, en ben zeer tevreden. Gemakkelijk en snel toegankelijk.

Ik moet er nog achter komen hoe alles werkt maar ik vind het een leuke systeem top app

Schrijft en tekent heerlijk. Soepele gebruikservaring. Maar synchronisatie via iCloud is waardeloos. App gaat op onverklaarbare momenten àlles synchroniseren en blijft dan tot een uur onbruikbaar. Gebeurt ook middenin het maken van notities.
En het ligt niet aan hoeveelheid opslag op iPad of in iCloud.

Upgrade and updates impossible due to incompetence software developer. Useless software.

Every time I reopen the app, all notes have to load again which takes several minutes (!). It really impairs the function of this app and I will 100% not renew my subscription next year.

After years of using Notability it is now not usable. Notes disappear, syncing with iCloud is now causing all notes to vanish, on PC it's still in beta and not working with other devices. Today I ended my subscription. Thanks for the past en I hope you decide to stop or improve.

Although this app is one of the best note taking apps out there but I can’t ignore the fact that it suffers from lack of some simple features including handwriting assistance which we can see an example of it on apple note app. It could help us write even more organized and efficient. And the other issue is much less important but still noticeable, Notability doesn’t have a cover for notebooks like the one that we see on noteshelf 3 app. I hope you could fix these two issues at least the first one.

So I’ve used notability for 1.5 years now, and I’ve got some mixed feelings about it. The good points are:
It’s easy to use and the UI is nice. That’s about it though. They have increased the price to €20 a year, and added an additional plan for €100 a year. I mean, who’s gonna pay for that? They also added an AI feature that makes flashbacks and summaries of the notes you take, which I really really like, but then again they put a limit on how much you can use… seriously, what am I paying for? 20 a year for the basics of a note taking app. Honestly, if they keep the prices up, I might switch to goodnotes. They have a free ai function, although it might not be as sophisticated as notability’s AI. At least it’s not 100 a year.

Ik heb hem nu betaald en het is echt een super fijne app! Maar wel jammer dat je het niet zonder betalen kan doen. Het kan natuurlijk wel want het is eigenlijk precies hetzelfde, behalve als je pro of plus hebt. Maar je kan gewoon niet zoveel typen dus dat is wel jammer.

Keeps pushing classic paid users to subscribe and now locked me out for no apparent reason.

I had to accept the new terms and conditions before I could access my notes. These conditions include using my content for learning purposes. An Adobe tactic. App deleted.

Notability is very user-friendly and an excellent tool for all my notes and studying. Unfortunately, the recent price increase keeps it from being a full 5 stars.

Notes are stored on US servers, can be read by the company to improve "the Services". Not usable anymore for taking sansitive business notes.

Existing users who payed for this app have now a in_app choice to paying every year, the first year you get 50% percent reduction, no way for me, i'm gone.

Obviously the app is amazing on iPad, especially with the Apple Pencil.
But on a MacBook it’s kind of painful to use as a text program:
- You can’t insert tables.
- Images Don’t Move with Text: Ruins Note Formatting.
I often screenshot school materials and insert them into my notes, but there's a major flaw: when I press Enter to add space above text, the text moves, but images don’t. This completely breaks the layout. If I need to adjust something on page 1 of a 10-page note, the text shifts down on every page while the images stay in place, throwing everything out of sync. The same issue happens when marking or highlighting text, it affects the text but not the images. It makes editing notes incredibly frustrating. Please fix this!
- The app has a frustrating issue with how it handles formatting after using headers. When I apply a header style (like Header 3), the app automatically continues that style when I press Enter to type the next line. This forces me to manually switch back to the normal text format every single line, which slows down the writing process significantly. Even pressing Enter again doesn't reset it: continues applying the header format. It feels like the app is "remembering" the wrong thing. Please fix this so formatting resets appropriately after headers!
- The reverse counts for colors: it always switches back to black, instead of going on with my last used color
