Linn

There is a "off by one" bug in this application since 4.7.11 or earlier. I have raised this with Linn support but they have not responded nor fixed the bug. It is still there in 4.8.8. I have raised a new bug report.
Since Linn have closed their community forum, they made a promise to be responsive and helpfull if you send them a mail. I am not happy with their unresponsiveness and I believe this is not in line with what they promised when they closed the forum.
For other issues I have had, such as compatiblity issues between my KDS and KK, they have been fast, friendly, and spot on with their answers. So in all fairness yes they are helpful.
However in terms of making this app (Linn.app) usable and bug free, I am afraid they have completely missed the boat. For instance "Wiim" app is so much better. And apparently they are not at all on the ball when fixing bugs. Disappointing. Hence 3 stars.
For daily use I still work with the Linn Kazoo app.

Way too often the app fails to find my Linn DSi. DS can be seen in the connected list of my router (Ziggo’s Connecticut), it will play internet radio commanded via the IR-remote control. Thus far, Linn has failed to supply a fix for this problem that many users experience. Nor supply clear instructions on how users can remedy. Nor to design firmware which reguarly renews it connection with the router as if the device was switched off during idle hours. Other weakness, this app sucks on finding music on my NAS that runs Twonky. You can browse through your music, but a search commando fails. It works on Qobuz, though. I like the performance of my DS, but the communication between app and DS is too unstable. This is an old problem, so I guess Linn can’t be bothered…

The app is not allways stable, not allways finding my two systems. The seperate search option, apart from browse, worked better.

Tot mijn grote ergernis biedt Linn nog altijd niet de mogelijkheid om zelf een volgorde aan te brengen in de favorieten. Dat is des te ergerlijker omdat de dictatoriale opties hopeloos zijn: albumnamen van klassieke muziek beginnen vaak met de voornaam van de dirigent, say no more. Artiesten worden gerubriceerd op voornaam. En release datum is meestal niet het jaar van opname of de eerste uitgave maar van de re-release. Braindead. Los daarvan, is een beetje autonomiet domweg veel leuker dan jullie on-rigiditeit.

I have several linn systems in my house and even outdoors. The sound quality is without any discussion. But I also appreciate the continuous updates an the super online service.
Mostly a reaction on the same day.
Personally, I think that this is the way a good relatie should be build.

De linn app werkt perfect als upnp controller voor de primare pre60. Ik gebruik Minimserver voor het indexeren van de muziekbestanden op mijn muziekserver (NAS) en gebruik op de NAS de Bubble upnp server app om controller app van Linn werkend te krijgen voor de upnp media renderers (Primare pre60 en Sonos amp 1e generatie). De Linn app geeft keurig en razendsnel de indexering weer van Minimserver. Perfect geregeld zo! Tevens ondersteunt de bubbleserver app Qobuz en wanneer je streamer bijvoorbeeld een bepaald format (bijv. een APE file) of bitrate niet ondersteunt (bijv. Sonos ondersteunt 24 bits bestanden niet). Dan zal de Bubbleserver de file razendsnel omzetten naar WAV file dat wel door de streamer kan worden afgespeeld. Op die manier kun je dus domweg Qobuz 24 bits bestanden afspelen op Sonos. Kortom, de combinatie van Minimserver en Bubbleserver maakt dat je alle muziek bestanden kunt afspelen op iedere willekeurige streamer. Mij ontgaat het gebruik van Roon. In feite doet Roon exact hetzelfde als de Bubbleserver. Maar Bubbleserver doet het tegen een fractie van de kosten die Roon vraagt. Tevens is Bubbleserver gebruiksvriendelijker en vraagt om minder hardwareresources dan Roon. Bubbleserver kan makkelijk op een niet krachtige of oude NAS draaien. Kortom, als je het meeste uit je streamer wil halen tegen minimale kosten dan raad ik aan Minimserver i.c.m. Bubbleserver en de Linn app.

Het ergste gehannes ligt wel achter ons en dat werd tijd. Gestileerde app om mijn Linn set mee te bedienen. Toch zou ik ook geholpen zijn als ik de interfaces van Deezer of Tidal zou kunnen gebruiken anders dan via AirPlay. Wie weet wat de toekomst brengt?

This version finally works correctly with the volume knob, took at least 5 years. With Deezer integration best of both worlds. Happy!

Using this Linn app in combination with the excellent already 10 yr old Linn Streamer and AssetUPNP server software on a Windows PC (Flac Files) with a TIDAL subscription.
It’s stable and excellent.
Sound quality superb.

Every few weeks app is disconnected from server and cannot be restorefd. Although old iPad with Linn Kazoo is working smoothly. This app is terrible instable.

Setup is makkelijk en super gestroomlijnd. Interface is op een goede manier minimalistisch, mooi en modern.
Dit is eigenlijk voor Linn streamers. Je kunt het wel voor andere streamers gebruiken. Als je in je thuisnetwerk BubbleUpnp hebt draaien kan je bijna elke streamer kompatibel maken. Ik gebruik het zo voor een Primare NP5 en een Sonos speaker.

In general the Linn app works just fine to control my Majik DSM/4.
Some improvements: I would prefer to use the Tidal native app since it has more functionality and looks better than the built-in Tidal app. But this would require Tidal Connect support in the Linn devices.
I would like to see a configuration option to leave the front display always on or to select the time the display shows the song info.

Zo verfijnd en precies de audio van Linn is, zo waardeloos is deze app. Verbinding verbreekt om de haverklap, afspeellijsten zijn niet toegankelijk, zoeken is een ramp. Linn-ferieur

More options to control the Linn as Kazoo without necessity to start Config. I’m on iPad mini 2019 with latest iOS installed. Works stable and fine. Nice layout, but that is a matter of opinion.

At least Kazoo works. This app doesn’t function most of the time and searching is a crime
