Gira Smart Home

The app does what it should do, but the user-friendliness is hard to find. The texts and buttons are very small, just like on the Gira itself. Clearly developed by someone without any sense of design and layout. Light gray text on a light gray background. How can you think of that…?

The accompanying X1 server is very expensive and hasn’t received any improvements in a long time. Like no support for showing an rtsp stream or even doing a secure webrequest to collect data.
This app itself is also very static with limited options for the modern smarthome and little to no flexibility in the layout.
The fact they don’t have dark mode after all these years is testament to that.

For a half year we have a smarthome by Gira and are using this app. Great app! But when I am leaving Home thru the garage, I have to use my smartphone to close de garagedoor and gate. Is It possible to add this app to CarPlay?

This system is really expensive and the app literally can’t do anything “smart”.
What can’t I create automations?
Why is there no Apple HomeKit integration?
Why can’t I use Siri?
Etc. Etc.
At this point there is no reason to buy this system over normal old school wired switches as there is not difference at all.
This system is anything BUT “smart”.

The App is okay, useful, not special.

1) But this app is inconsistent compared to other Apps on how you navigate on a iPhone.
With other Apps in similar situations you can go back with a swipe from the edge. And a normal swipe to navigate between the pages.
Now I can only swipe between the pages and not back, why?!
And I really hate that I have to use the back button in the top left corner. This is difficult with the standard screen sizes.

2) The App does really need a Dark Mode.
When you want to check or want to control something in the evening/ night, this App is very bright. All my other Apps have a Dark Mode. The very white layout does really hurt on the eyes in darker situations / environments.

Notice: unable to read configuration. Please make sure that server contains correct package version. Well, which version should it be?

Na update iOS15 en iPadOS15 is de tijdschakelklok weggevallen uit beeld. Hopelijk volgt spoedige update.

Heel irritant dat je weer lang moet wachten tot de tekst overbrugd onderin beeld zichtbaar komt wanneer je een zone wilt overbruggen. In de versie hiervoor juist opgelost als fout en nu staat deze er weer in.
