The taxi meter showed €13 but I was charged €26 , 2 times times the amount. This has happened several times over the past few days. I’ve used different apps like Bolt and Uber and never experienced anything like this. This feels like a scam. It’s disappointing that Google Maps promotes this app. Completely worthless.

Indicated range of price is completely incorrect. Indication was 24-43 and price became 54 eur. Driver kept us waiting for 20
Minutes while indication was 5 min.

I booked a cab and the driver charged me way over the visible amount on the meter and even above the recommended amount in the app. Additionally the driver didn’t offer a receipt.
I complained and the driver gave a weak reply (in broken English) that the extra charge for €9, not just a few cents, was because of the “app”. I didn’t want to argue with the driver on the spot, so after leaving I asked customer support to clarify the situation.
Customer support showed empathy, refunded a small amount (the charge over the maximum recommended amount which ended up being €1), offered a voucher which I can’t use because I’m not a resident in the country, and then… asked me for the receipt which the driver never offered! The app is not connected with the taxi meter so the drivers can charge whatever amount they like. That is very shady and can be abused as it happened in my case!
Support could have followed up with the driver for the receipt but they didn’t. They could have refunded the whole (bad) ride, take a penalty and retain the customer but they didn’t.
Bottom line FreeNow doesn’t really protect their customers from excessive charges!
FreeNow: If I’m disputing the charge in good faith, make sure you side with your real customers! Now you just lost a customer forever.
I’ve just deleted the app and I’m never coming back.

This app enables taxi drivers to withdraw random amounts of your money. If you complain afterwards, you can only talk to an AI bot. Later a real person promises reimbursement but it doesn’t happen. If you have to use this app, take a picture of the taxi meter and driver as proof.

Very little drivers that only want to pick you up if you pay an exaggerated amount of money. Had to wait everytime just for no driver to be found.
Not reliable

Driver literally dropped me and my friends in the middle of nowhere, because he took a wrong turn and didnt know what to do. He still DEMANDED money, or wouldnt let us out. Customer service refused to give me a refund and gave me a PARTIAL VOUCHER of the amount, which CANNOT be used in my country and is only valid for a couple of weeks. Just get yourself a taxi on the streets in greece or from any other app, it doesn’t differ that much in pricing.

If one amount is quoted , and another one, 30% higher, shows up on credit card, and there is no mention of this from the driver, this is wrong. Just wrong.

Unacceptable experience. I pre-booked a ride (in Naples, Italy) to catch a train the next day, and the booking was confirmed. Just minutes before the scheduled pickup, the driver messaged me to say he wouldn’t show up because he had decided to go to the airport instead—then had the nerve to ask me to cancel the ride myself.
With no time to waste, I was forced to cancel in order to find another taxi at the last minute. As a result, I missed my train and lost the full cost of my non-refundable ticket.
What’s worse is that, because I was pressured into canceling the ride myself, the system now falsely shows that I backed out—protecting the driver from any accountability. I can’t even leave a review to warn other travelers. I suspect this may be a loophole drivers are exploiting to drop less convenient bookings at the last minute without facing consequences. To make matters worse, I no longer have access to the message thread that clearly showed the driver was the one who canceled.
This is not only incredibly frustrating—it’s also highly unprofessional and shows a complete disregard for the customer.
On top of that, submitting a complaint is also not a great experience. You have to contact support via a bot chat, and you’re limited to just 250 characters to explain your issue, which is nowhere near enough to describe what happened.
Free Now needs to take responsibility. It should not allow drivers to abandon confirmed bookings without consequences while customers are left stranded and unable to leave honest feedback. This level of service is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

Recently we visited Madrid. I pre ordered a taxi. I paid for it and the order was ready. 5 minutes before the pre ordered time I got the message that they couldn’t find a taxi. And I ended up with the problem of arranging an alternative very last minute. I am not gonna use the Freenow app again.

Hidden charges. You can even get an estimated price of your fair ahead of time. They overcharge. Gangsters. Try local or uber, at least you can get an estimation.

The drivers can charge whatever the like and there is no control of the beak down. Nothing is clear to customers

This app is incredibly frustrating! The waiting times are ridiculous—no one ever accepts my order. When someone finally does, I have to wait at least 15 minutes for the driver to show up! This is completely unacceptable. I shouldn’t have to waste so much time just trying to get a ride. Fix your service!

I was using FREENOW in Rome. The initial cost was 16.54 euro and suddenly I was charged 26 euro. I did not make any changes to the pick up/drop off point. I did not make the driver wait. The trip was not longer than it was on google map.

AVOID don’t ever use this app it’s a scam and they will use your credit card details to withdraw more money. We used it in Rome and They took 20 more euros from my account and after complaining and ping pong mails they said the driver puts the fare as they wish and they said we think it’s 4.99 more than the maximum fare.. seriously!
It is a SCAM don’t ever use it. Go for the respectful apps like Uber or Bolt if it works even if you will pay a bit more at least you see what you pay

I love the app, it is easy to use. The only problem is that I can not pay with my ING debitcard. You have to use paypal which is not working for me, or you can pay the driver directly which does not work when you want to order a taxi with a large trunk. Next to that it is a good app. Thank you for your service

Driver came quickly (Athens) however cheated me on the price (I paid cash) as he made me pay Euro 15, for a Euro 11 ride.
Nevertheless still much cheaper than regular taxis
