Firefox Focus: Privacy browser

Hi team FFF, heavy user of your browser, wanting to share a big bug encountered after going from v18.x.y to 26.3. When iPad attached to the Magic Keyboard the "HID/cursor-focus" will not remain within the address bar, making inputting a search or a website impossible. Since dropping the 'focus', losing the cursor also wipes the text inputted and makes the go to website routine inaccessible. --- The behavior is different for full/partial screen, staging manager/Fullscreen only/windowed mode, every 'mode' has a different set of issues. Solved by going to another browser-app or by detaching the hardware keyboard form the iPad. Already tried removal and reinstall, latest versions, restarting the device etc. --- AND already escalated through the support at apple to senior Apple Advisor(s) relaying info and examples to the internal engineers at apple. Maybe compare to DDG since that doesn't show these symptoms (afaik/atm).

Ik stel mijn zoek specificaties in, en ik ga er vanuit dat ik dit maar 1 keer hoef te doen. Als ik de app afsluit en de dag erna Firefox Focus opnieuw open, blijken alle instellingen terug gezet te zijn naar standaard..? Firefox Focus is dus een volstrekt onbetrouwbare app..!

My main reason to start using this app was to get rid of the intrusive “log in” pop-ups on half of all the websites from the biggest personal data collector in the world called Google (seriously Mozilla, why you still team up with them as a privacy centered organization). But it doesn’t work, at least not consistently.
Apart from that:
I don’t like the trash button in the main screen because it can be pressed accidentally and there will be no confirmation dialog to confirm the action. It also seems that the app randomly“refreshes” and deletes all the history by itself. I first thought that it happens when you change network but this is not the case. I want to be the one who decides when I clear my history.
Several users have commented on this before: we are allowed to only add 4 shortcuts, annoying. Why not at least just double it. It’s probably just changing a value on a configuration file. As an alternative I use the function to autocomplete URL’s so I just need to type 2 letters in the address bar in order to go to a website. However, for some reason sometimes I need to type 3 characters before the same address autocompletes.
For many websites icons disappear or get replaced by some character which is probably because of filtering out tracker code but it makes the websites hard to navigate.
When I am on a search engine page the shortcuts below the address bar are replaced by a search text field. Why? I don’t mind the field but keep the icons. Now I need to remove the search query first before I can access the shortcuts.
Quite often a page “freezes” probably because of an HTML pop up layer. Or I don’t get back the main buttons while scrolling. Then I will need to navigate to a new page first to solve the issue.
Sometimes when I want to copy an URL from the address bar to someone it only displays the domain name part.
Lastly, when you leave the app for a second and come back you first will see the Firefox Focus splash screen. My guess is that this is done perhaps for privacy reasons but it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, I find it just annoying.

Firefox op de pc is een van de beste. Maar op mobiel buitengewoon knudde. Constant maar dat trackers gedoe in zicht. Bescherm het gewoon op de achtergrond. Klaar.

As of writing this, you can only set up 4 websites as your favourite, even though the main home screen has a lot of free space, you can only favourite a maximum of 4 websites

For a privacy focused browser, HTTPS should be default and non-negotiable in 2025. Other than that, a fantastic browser ^_^

The sole reason for Firefox Focus has always been to use it as a content blocker. This appears no longer to function on iPad. Such a pity.

This is the perfect browser for opening links that people send you or things you don't need to save. The only thing I miss is an auto-reject (or accept since cookies aren't saved anyway). The cookie pop-up from Google is incredibly annoying as you have to scroll to reject it. This is the only hindrance for me to use this browser.

Hi! Since I updated Firefox Focus I cannot search anything. It just doesn’t load anymore (both on my phone and my tablet).
Another bug?

I couldn’t get my password manager to work with Focus, which gets tiring fast! This all seems merely an ongoing experimental project that personally, I don’t think is ready to be used.

Please, make the omnibox a normal text field, so we can edit it (just like in safary). I use Focus to clean links from tracking bs and the unreasonable copy behavior of omnibox makes it particularly challenging.
Also would be nice to have the option to move omnibox to the bottom of the screen, like in the big Firefox.

Crashes immediately upon opening. I wad a happy user for a long time, now it’s completely useless…

App crashes directly on iOS after update, a re-install doesn’t solve it. Please fix this bug, because Firefox focus is a pretty good privacy browser.

Nadat versie 124.0 is geïnstalleerd op mijn iPhone met iOS 17.4 werkt Firefox Focus niet meer.
Prutswerk, een bugfix om dit te herstellen is (nog) niet uitgebracht door Mozilla.

The app was working flawlessly until march 18 2024. After applying the latest update (124.0) the app crashes on launch. I have deleted the app, shutdown my iPad for several minutes, restarted the iPad and redowloaded the app to no avail. Same on iPhone. iOS 17.4. Pity, I liked it.

The last update, version 124.0, doesn’t work.
Poor testing before releasing the update.
