Clear: To Dos & Reminders

Fine app as long as it lasted. Turn it into a subscription? No thanks…
apple notes is from now on my first choice

This is the app I’ve been looking for to compliment with todoist. It replaces my small paper and pen to list out the ‘X next things’ I want to do.
It’s amazingly simple. Zero clutter. Thank you.

It took me little time to find out how this app works, but once done I can say I love it!
I love this app’s simplicity. Very usable for (short term) todo’s that don’t need to be actually planned in Calendar for instance. Like quick notes or reminders (don’t forget to call mom today

The old version communicated across devices and platforms. With a new phone you can only download the latest version and lose that beautiful ability. These are moments the Apple ecosystem is to be chided.

Na de update moet je anders navigeren. Bv onderwerp dag, datum en tijd. Niet handig. Ook op en neer scrollen lukt vaak niet. Staat dan vast.

At first I was quite bummed out about the overhaul the app got. I had been using it from the start and loved it. But, the dev (who was very kind by the way!) said I might get used to it, and he was right! Took some getting used to, but I like it. Still use the app every day.

The app developers don’t have their priorities straight. Recently achievements and other useless features have been added to this to do list app. Instead they should add family sharing for lists, something that has been missing since the very first day.

Installed latest version and lost all items. The only thing what remained was a black screen.

Don't get this. It used to be a simple todo list that syncs across devices, with no distractions. Now it's neither. The app has been redesigned and rebuilt under new ownership, with clearly different ideas in mind. Much of the design and features that made the original app great have been removed entirely. Despite this, they seem to be using quotes taken from reviews of the original version to advertise this new, completely different version. Doesn't feel like the most ethical of practices.

Do not upgrade if you don't need to, icloud/mac sync is gone and replaced by irrelevant features like gamification elements I don't want or need in any app.

I think another takeaway from this example is that you never really own anything you "buy" in the app store. They can change, ruin or remove anything you purchased at any time, so maybe keep that in mind when spending your money here.

I used the app since release, but I did not expect to load the entire Clear shop in the app, or whatever takes 560MB on my phone. There are no visual changes in the app, anything I would purchase should be downloaded only on request.
I give it another month, maybe the developer comes back to their senses.

You could create other smart ways to make money with this app without ruining it. Decided stop using it now after more than 10 years. One of the main reasons this app was great is because it was simple and basic! I recommended for many people exactly because of this. Sad.

Only because of the love of version 1 it gets one more star.

- I was cleaning up my phone, and saw that it takes up half a gigabyte of space. That is, inexcusable.

I’ve been using this app for years and years. I’ve only just learned that iCloud sync has been removed from the features. The app now loses all of its value to me. They’ve also added silly features like achievements. I just want an elegant todo app that syncs between my phone and Mac. This really, really sucks. Don’t buy this app.

What have you done with the iCloud sync. Suddenly none of the lists are accurate anymore because iCloud sync seems to have disappeared. Very disappointing!

I’m really happy that this easy to-do app made his comeback. It would perfect if I could share a list with other Clear users, for example when doing groceries with my partner.

Loved it for years for its simplicity and easy gestures. Now my favourite gesture (swipe left to remove the whole text) seems to be gone and the whole app feels bulky and overdone. Too bad, we need more simple apps these days.

Sadly all that was good is now killed since the last update. And since this week they even removed iCloud sync!?! Come on… Now there’s no more reason for me to use it. I’ll shop elsewhere.
