There used to be an option to set a black background... but this feature is now gone, after many years of being a feature... I wonder why they’d remove it

I can not change the background annymore. In the past I could change the white background into a black background. Please let the chess Player change the background as he wish.

Nice you can go back and see what happens when you do an other move. It makes you better.

Absolutely love this chessgame, after trying a whole of chess games fron the store, i liked this one best so i bought it and it's great. Love the custom board and analysis mode, really easy.

Een van de weinige programma's waarmee je je eigen partij kunt laten analyseren op fouten.

Reasonable, lot of options, analysis of game is helpfull. Stability not so good though, frequently hangs during a game. Also when switching to another app and back, often the engine takes a rediculous move, like all game context has been lost and it must performs so me kind of legal move.
I expected better, especially since the pro version is not free at all.

We have 2 iPods with ios 5.1.1. And a iPhone with ios 6.1.3. It is nearly impossible to invite a friend in the gamecentre. We have tried turnbase. I expected it to work better.

Je kunt compleet zeggen hoe het eruit moet zien, alles werkt, genoeg opties en ziet er mooi uit met iOS 7. Multiplayer werkt ook geweldig. Nul klachten tot nu toe!
Mensen die zeuren over de denksnelheid van de computer (die is gewoon direct) kunnen gewoon op undo tikken om het nog eens te bekijken.

Good opening repertoire, strong middle game, less strong end game. Pity that it does not yet support alternative hints by hitting the hint button again. ELO of 2500 is about 500 to 600 too high.

Now annotations and variations are possi le to study the own games. Last improvement could be the possibility to add variations clicking on the analysis text to add it. Maybe the notations
can be further improved including comments in the initial screen( or at least the ? ! +_ etc)

Someone like #d4nny132 can infinitely ask to take back his last move, change sides or disconnect without any consequences/losing the game.
If you meet a kid like this you have no other option than to quit playing, since there's no way to find another player, leave the game without losing or reporting the other player.

Best chess app I know for the iPhone. If analysis-mode will show next best moves and annotations will be visible in the same screen as the board (like Fritz for Windows Mobile does) it deserves 5 stars!

opzich een goede app maar niet voor 6 euro. het idee van de analyse mode is goed maar slecht uitgewerkt, je krijgt alleen maar razendsnel een opsomming van van nummers ipv van een soort simulatie. ook mis ik een online modus waarmee je tegen andere kan spelen want er zijn genoeg andere apps die dat wel hebben en een stuk minder kosten of zelfs helemaal gratis zijn en dan mag je dat ook wel voor een app van 6 euro verwachten. deze app werkt voor de rest wel goed, ook de rating is makkelijk in te stellen en er zit een handige uitleg over schaken bij, ook is hij erg snel met laden. maar dat betekent nog niet dat hij 6 euro waard is, als de analyse mode een beetje overzichterlijker was en er een online modus op zat dan was hij zijn geld al een stuk meer waard, vandaar maar 3 sterren. dus voor de makers: request for online modus (via game center) !

Schaken zoals het eruit behoort te zien, en doet ook precies wat het behoort te doen. Enige minpuntje zijn de hints; die slaan meestal helemaal nergens op.

Speelt heerlijk. Kan alles instellen. Allerlei keuzes hoe het spel eruit ziet, zelfs onder welke hoek je naar het bord kijkt. Erg sterk hoe je 'rated' kan spelen en de app de juiste sterktes bepaald en je kan zien hoe je verbeterd (zit nu op 1200). Ook mooi dat de uitslagen van de vorige partijen bewaard blijven en je kan individuele potjes opslaan als je wil. Ook kun je daardoor meerdere partijen tegelijk spelen. Alles bij elkaar meer dan het geld waard!

Playing strength might be a bit better, but otherwise great chess program. Great interface, analysis mode, opening book. Hardly anything left to desire. I have bought several iPhone chess programs, this is the best by far.

Very brilliant Chess App. I have been playing Chess against the computer for a while now, but this is by far the most creative and challenging engine I have seen yet.
