Brainscape - Study Flashcards

Be careful when creating decks. All your data is public by default and only private with the “Pro” version. Which means all your data is searchable on the web, which I am doubting is legal according to the GDPR.

Ik gebruik deze app nu een weekje en had een toets week en dit heeft me zo erg geholpen en ik heb de rest van me cijfers niet maar 1 is al een 9,5 terwijl ik eerst alemaal 6jes haalde

Brainscape really helped me out with Spanish and helped me get better grades. Thanks to this app! One thing: on the website I could see how many cards I studied, but not in the app. Is this normal or can’t I just find it?

Very happy with the functionality. Was easily able to C/P my written notes from Word onto the flash cards and get started immediately. No surprises or non-intuitive setup, just got to studying right away

Als leraar zoek je continu naar manieren om aanwezige kennis te reactiveren en nieuwe kennis te verankeren. Elke leraar heeft zijn eigen methodes daarvoor. Brainscape is een van mijn favoriete hulpmiddelen, aangepast aan deze tijd waarbij de gsm aan de student lijkt te zijn vastgegroeid. Makkelijk te maken lessen voor mij en voor de student makkelijk op te roepen. Mijn mantra is: studeer niet lang, maar vaak en benut slimme momenten. Bij het wachten op de bus, in de spreekkamer, tijdens een tussenuur etc. En het werkt.

When I add new cards the loading screen to save it takes way too long. Sometimes up to 10 seconds. I have 1000mbps for upload and download on my mobile. They should really set a standard. Because this interrupts the workflow when adding card after card.
I live in The Netherlands. iPhone 14 Pro. I only have lag with this app. Please set a standard and make it snappy.

App has everything I need from a flashcard app. I just want to be able to turn the voice-overs off the cards. It is i.e. impossible to study and listen to music

Great that you can rate it in a (1-5) scale instead of only “yes” and “no”

Great app! It really helps me learning my French. The system how the app works where you have to say yourself if you know the word is much better compared to other apps.
It would be even better if there was an option to write the the answer instead of flashcards. Since that helps you reminding the terms and spelling them.

As far as I can see, the best flashcard app in the AppStore thus far. Has good usage options and interesting feed back statistics. Like most flascard apps, Brianscape does lack good import/export to/from other flashcard apps. No simple procedure to place pictures on the cards.

Biggest culprit you can not upload images on the iPhone directly in the app.
You can make private Cards in pro mode but to share them the other side must be pro also?

I paid one month which I really need it for my exam. However, my account doesn’t update it and I have being contact them for a couple days already.

Great app. It feels indeed a bit like a game once you've made all your cards. Want to give it a 4,5 star. The last 0,5 star not, because I am missing a time-based option of repeating your cards. Even the most known cards will loose retention after a certain amount of time. What I would expect is a notification that a card has been studied for 1, 2, 5, 12 and 30 days ago. So that once you rank a question blue, the app asks in these periods again what the answer is.
Without these time-based requests for repetition, one can think that a blue card is forever in your memory, which it's not.

Dit is de beste app in zijn categorie die ik kon vinden. Werkt op goed op mijn iPad en mijn iPhone. Op mijn computer voer ik lastige begrippen in, op mijn iPhone train ik alles.

Those who are familiar with the open source plarform Anki and the accompanying app will wonder why people took the effort to promote Brainscape. It gives the impression of partly copying Anki, leaving less flexible functionality, and then sell the impoverished for much more money. Bizar! Anki will cost you at most €25 in your lifetime, BS at least €33 for one (1) year. Again: bizar! Highly not recommended.

Very good app. Flashcards are easy to make and it's a very effective way of studying.

After the last update, it's not possible anymore to study your own cards offline unless you buy a pro subscription. This made the app practically useless for me.
Practically they removed a feature that existed before and now they hold you hostage by making you pay a subscription for something that is not a service at all.
I'll be switching to some other app, even a paid one, so I'll be sure they will not try these shady tactics.

A great addition to my study habits. It's helping me to remember key points for the exam.
