Blackmagic Camera

After I have completed the permissions of the camera, microphone, etc. It just closes the app, and when I click on the app icon again after, it just closes immediately. Doesn’t seem to work for me at all…

Please valid your https certificate because it tells us your certificate is not trusted. Blackmagic company is big and can’t pay trusted certificate? OR we are doing something WRONG?

This app has so many features but still lacks a very basic and useful option to lock the shutter speed independently from auto iso. Add this manual option for run and gun shooting

Although it’s a free app, the cost of loosing a day of production is high. And I just lost one. It works really nice and everyone is raving about the app, although the ‘parrot’ talk plays a huge part. But when using the 48 lens on the iPhone 17 pro it turns the video into unusable grainy low res video. I tried everything but the results stayed the same. I went over to Final Cut camera. Less specs but better results. Hope this will be resolved in the very near future.

is it me ? or gives the original apple camera app a much better quality than black magic app?

Has all the features you could want when shooting video. The only thing missing is opengate 4:3 so you can record 16:9 and 9:16 simultaneously. App is absolutely amazing

Great app. I am still waiting for that professional camera app that also stores logs video + ARKit tracking + LiDAR in sync, with the last two items beving “side-car data”.
Imagine being able to load in the video and its meta-data into Resolve and add 3D models without having to track the scene (something I struggle with)?
There is no app out there that do all that very well.

Great app! Crisp footage. But cmon where’s the flash? That’s a basic feature. If this app would’ve had flash I’d give it 5 stars. And we really need a 4:3 recording setting, that way you can record the full frame, and decide what you want to do with the aspect ratio later.

The app very often completely locks up and I am forced to restart my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Also the clean feed HDMI output is a coin toss and often simply won’t work (black output). If the clean feed output works, the framerate is 59.94 fps instead of the set framerate for recording. And yes, I have also tried the Apple AV Adapter. But next to powering the iPhone over USB-C, I’d also like to connect an external USB-C microphone and ssd storage for the BlackMagic App to record to. So a good quality USB-C hub with power option should be allowed to work. I don’t mind buying a USB-C hub that BlackMagic Design would advise, but there’s no good info on what works. I also wouldn’t mind paying for this app to see the stability improve and the features mentioned being added.

When I use Blackmagic with my iPhone 15 pro Max during filming a football match the app crashes because the iPhone is overheat.

But I’d love it if this app could record from UVC cameras as well. Other UVC capable apps exist, but as far as I know none support recording in Prores or UVC 422.

I agree with the other review, this app deserves at least six stars. Blackmagic is a really cool company making video recording and editing accessible to so many people without breaking their banks. Love you people.

On iPhone 16 pro max the stabilizer is bugged and causes shaky footage. (Fix: set to 1080p and turn off stabilisator for now). This was fine on iPhone 13 pro max. Please fix?! It’s a problem!

With the iPhone 15 it will look Amazing! Only thing is the foto mode missing but for the rest its perfect!

Best app our there, its highy customisable and lets you take full control over your phone. Thse people out here complaining for nothing, its FREE, NO ADS TOO!

Terrible expierence with this app.
First I was happy with it but again I missed some great shots!
Continues blue screens and switching audio inputs.
Totally not reliable for vlogging!
Switching back to my action cam.

I wish there was a way to make the Guides (lines) a bit thinner.
Also the “Opacity” option doesn’t seem to work.
And what i’m really missing is an option to see if my phone is exactly horizontal or vertical leveled.
Please make that option to see level percentage somewhere or a extra line with some haptic feedback would be awesome.
