• No grammar?

  I am trying to exercise some Dutch. Of course it is not the sigle tool I am using, I am also taking classes. But I expected a bit of grammar, some exercises about pronunciation of vocals, how to make plurals, etc. but there is nothing, just words, not even sentences.

• Minimaal 3 maanden betalen?!

  Leuke app en unieker dan Duolingo. Echter moet je minimaal 54 euro betalen en dat Kun je het 3 maanden gebruiken…. Er staat in de beschrijving dat er een maandabonnement is, maar die is er niet. Jammer. Toch maar Duolingo. Iets minder leuk, maar wel betaalbaar

• Good method but limited content

  Great application to learn languages with a nice methodology. Unfortunately the amount of content and courses is a bit limited and it would be nice that the company dedicates some resources to it. In particular the Russian course is too limited. Hope they improve it

• Je moet Engels kunnen

  Je kunt hier meerdere talen mee leren.
  Maar je moet Engels kunnen omdat je alles vanuit het Engels leert.
  Hier kwam ik helaas pas achter toen ik al betaald had.
  Omdat het niet staat aangegeven.
  Dus wel betaald maar 0 keer gebruik van gemaakt

• Great way of learning

  The way of learning is very good with a lot of variation in learning approaches. Motivating E-mails and keeping your daily strikes ongoing just requires short moments of learning but you can also practice with dialogues and podcasts. A great way to learn Spanish and for me great that I can learn Spanish in South American style. A fun app for a reasonable price.

• After getting the basics (A1/2) in Duolingo a great follow-up app

  I enjoyed learning Italian a lot with Duolingo but got stuck being bored in the last section. Babbel is a great follow up into the more complex sentence building with explanations of the language learned as you make the exercises. Basically, for me I continued in B1 in Babbel and it is working great!

• Subscription Dilemma

  I paid the subscription fee and app doesn’t allow me to join lessons. If i try to subscribe one more time app tells me that i am already subscribed.
  Help center tells me that i am not subscribed even tough payment has been done.

• Not much different from Duolingo

  I used this app for 4 months really stuck to it, and basically only broke my streak twice. I didn’t feel like it gave me any noticeable progress. The material isn’t engaging in any way. I actually looked around a bit before choosing this app and my impression was that it would put me in situations that seemed more real. Instead I feel like I’m always jumping into generic and really boring social situations. There’s a lot of cheap and ugly stock photo imagery and the interface on mobile is suboptimal. There must be something better out there…

• Great app with minor suggestions

  The app is overall great at what it does. It will not replace formal learning but it’s damn close. There are 2 important suggestions I could make: I’d love a widget that shows your streak as it helps remind and motivate me to practice daily and secondly, I’d love if there is a bit more repetition of language rules. I find that there is not enough emphasis on learning it and if you miss one it affects all future learning.

• Good app, to bad the interface is in limited languages

  Would love to have the option for my original language to be available in the menu as a setting. English is fine but understanding certain translations works easier coming from the OG language you grew up with.

• Erst blechen, dann testen

  Getreu dem Motto "erst blechen, dann testen" bietet die App keine gratis Testphase. Man muss mindestens 9 Euro zahlen um die App nutzen zu können. Wenn die App dann nicht passt, hat die Firma immerhin schon mal 9,- Euro abkassiert ohne etwas leisten zu müssen. Bloss nicht downloaden!

• Pop-ups and no time to read the text aloud

  +Babbel is a very good program to learn a language.
  I recommend it to all my friends.
  Some improvements:1 the orange pop-up with extra information are over the information I’m reading.
  2The next page turn up before I can repeat the text aloud.
  3 Not much repetition for the grammar

  Absolute rubbish. You are learning Brazilian Portuguese and not Portuguese. That’s like learning Dutch when you need German.

• Wordt beter maar …

  Babbel krijgt geleidelijk een betere interface maar ziet de leerling bij tijd en wijle nog steeds als een kleuter die met letters mag schuiven. Ook nu en dan erg kritisch wat betreft het verplicht stellen van het verbingsstreepje (trait d’union) tussen twee woorden. In plaats van een opmerking te maken over een kleine tikfout, wordt dat keihard fout gerekend zonder toelichting.
  Er is een mooie balans tussen verschillende typen van oefeningen, dat maakt het leuker om te doen.

• Vocab review

  With daily vocab reviews the app allows a mistake when only one letter is different. This doesn’t work for me. E.g. One letter wrong could mean a complete misunderstanding of a grammar rule. For me personally a strict vocab review is essential. I have lost my interest.
