Astrill VPN Client

The VPN doesn’t work well in China, both on iPhone and iPad. I contacted the support to ask for a cancellation after 2 hours usage, they refused.

Lots of bugs on iPhone. Turns on /switches off suddenly, lots of errors when either connecting or disconnecting (“unknown error” / “authorization handshake failed” / “ ICP error”)
Astrill, since this is such a common issue among iPhone users, why can it not be fixed? This has been going on for years. I am not a single case, this happens with many of my friends who use iPhones.
Meanwhile you increased prices by 50% over the last few years?
Unfortunately Astrill is one of the few VPN operators in China, that’s why there’s almost no other option.

Talk about a lazy bunch of devs…

Works like crap on an iPad … 4 years ago “we” did the latest “upgrade” … (tweak is the better word) seriously…

Keeps stuck on the login screen all the time. Worst for iOS devices. MacBook works good

Very often I have trouble during connecting and especially during disconnecting. When disconnecting, it usually connects again automatically (sometimes immediately, sometimes after 5-10seconds). It sometimes takes me up to 20-30 times pressing the disconnect button until it finally stays disconnected. Absolutely driving me crazy.

I connected from the phone iOS version but got some issues that I cannot disconnect successfully sometimes. Be a bug need to fix

But recently the iOS version is automatically disconnecting every moment you look away, hopefully a fix is coming up

Establishing and closing a vpn connection is a pain. For months the app has felt very buggy, and customer service has no solution. When connected, the connection is usually good.

Great VPN, works excellent in China. Unfortunately I cannot watch Apple TV+ with this VPN. Customer service needs improvement, impossible to reach.

Quite a good VPN - has been working most of the time in the recent few months in China.

Very disappointing app and service. I bought it to use a VPN in China but it actually never worked when I was there. Sadly, customer support wasn’t very helpful either. Some free VPN’s worked better ...

All I can do is download the app. If I try to register I get an error. So useless.

This app is only good when you live outside China. When you live inside China it hardly works, and customer service pretty much gives you the finger when you need help or request a refund. Pretty pathetic company if you ask me, especially since they can't seem to win from the Chinese and the rudeness of their customer service reps

The app used to work quite good from China. However, for the last 2-3 months performance is poor, the solution offered is not working and the iOS9 app that is announced is still not there. Meanwhile this (paid!) service is not working at all and thus useless.

If you're in China, I strongly recommend you to NOT waste money on Astrill.
As you can see, they haven't made an update for months now. Every time I open the app on iOS, a message pops up: "Old VPN Profile Detected" and then a little guideline on how to update the profile.
However they never have updated their VPN profile!
Also, they've said that as soon iOS 9 would come out they would release a new app that would be able to deal with China's GFW. iOS 9 has been out for ages and still no update from Astrill.
Also their customer service is slow, rude and incompetent! I honestly HATE how poor their service is on this field. It's one of the worst in the VPN service market.
Don't waste your time and money on Astrill!

Avoid at all cost! worst experience I've ever had with a product. After they randomly stopped my service it took me 35 emails and two months of haggling with a bunch of ignoramus to sort it out. No service, unstable connection and an extremely bad company!

I live alternately in china and the netherlands. So when im in china i am kinda forced to use astrill and blame the great chinese firewall for unstable vpn connection. But then....... even in the netherlands astrill kinda doesnt work. For example, i have tried to reinstall astrill at least 40 times and always i get the unsigned, unverified version, red check. Help desk hasnt got the foggiest, contacted them so many times. Other users get a green checked signed version. Also, when turned on, there s no way you turn astrill off. Like you re stuck in hotel california. And when i cant turn astrill off, guess what: i cant use my yahoo account. And the cheeky thing is astrill blames ios. But astrill does charge an arm and a leg. So my advice: listen to those corny country rockers, and check yourself into another vpn service before you sell your soul to astrill without an emergency exit.
