Let's be honest, this thing is not evolving anywhere. After years notifications are still broken. UI is a joke. Let's be honest, we all use this because some clients require it.

Slack is feature rich - read very powerful when it comes to online collaboration.
Learn it step by step until you master all features and preferences. Will take some time.
The user experience is great which drives also efficiency.

Use it for 4 years now. It works as expected. Love the catch up mode, miss it in desktop app. Love that messages sent by yourself to a channel make channel Unread in mobile option (and do not understand why desktop lacks it) - super needed with Claude integration. Sometimes bugs with sending image or seeing sent as duplicate, especially when editing from 2 devices - absolutely minor stuff.

Don’t think any other communication tool is better than slack. All user experience is thought off. You see that they build with input of their users. It’s fun to use but also extremely efficient. I use the macOS and iOS - both apps connect immediately, if I draft something on app, then see it appear on Mac immediately. SO convenient. The custom emojis make my day happier. The reminders make my day easier. But there’s so much more to say I can’t all write it down. The best

Slack always seems to forget that you left a huddle, so the microphone is being listened to permanently or the video feed popover stays after the call ended. Otherwise it’s a nice app.

Used to be excellent but seems to struggle more as the years goes on - still my no. 1 communication app for business though

With every new channel you need to adjust the notification settings, since the general ones are limited.

Slack is working hard to be the all-in-one communication and collaboration platform, and because of this usability suffers in my experience. Complex interface that is changing without notice and with a lot of half-baked features.

Sometimes UX a bit confusing, while UI is super, plus I love Liquid Glass support

Have been a great fan of slack for a long time now. Only minor issue for me is that it doesn’t always like switching networks.

Awesome for small teams and startups. Awful for more than that. Drains productivity, generates so much noise that makes it impossible to be productive once you have to keep up with larger orgs with hundreds of channels and thousands of people. I wish we could get rid of Slack some day.
