Reuters - Breaking World News

Was my favorite app with great news coverage until very bad visual update decisions were taken. App got very messy with forced pictures, messy articles allocation, disproportionally high font “flashy” headlines, and non-adjustable fonts. Earlier was very clear with simple to scroll news list. Now get lost with eyes zigzagging through the screen.

Specifically installed the app because even though I went through the full preferred topics list to tick all boxes that apply and specifically leave those out that definitely do not apply, I got sports in my feed. I Do Not Want Sports. So I assumed maybe I would be able to make that clear in the app, but no. This is ridiculous and one of the reasons someone like me doesn't pay for news. I could totally pay for it, I want to pay for it, but not as long every major news outlet does not respect my preferences and makes bad products. Make it good and I will pay.

This terrible news app isnt even free. Its filled with ads for huge oil companies ‘claiming they are saving the planet’, but its not even a free app. You have to pay to use it, except for like 10 articles. After that its behind lock and key, despite the massive ad campaigns of the biggest oil companies in the world. Wow, amazing…

The app is good, however most of the news is about local USA events, even if you set it to "Intentional edition". It would great if it could be localised to reader's region.

It keeps crashing in iOS
I tried re-install several times but still the same problem!

Why are “white people” with a lower w, but black criminals are written as “Black man”, with a capital B. This is blatant racism!

The Wire category has been removed from the new design.
This breaking news function is something that set the Reuters App apart from other news apps.
Fortunately, the Wire is still available though the website.

The last version has a strange lay out on the iPad. Is it iPhone only? The previous version was much better and professional.

It is stable and easy to use, visually unique and attractive - has a professional, contemporary graphic feel without attempting to be ‘trendy’.
If only it allowed some simple ways to filter and arrange search results. The search function in general is not very successful.
The iOS recent versions also have a bug in Market category. If you conduct a search that yields no results, there is no way of exiting the search screen without closing and reopening the app.
Still, for it’s tight, serious yet modern look that support the impression of ‘realness’ and ‘opposite of fake’ experience, I tend to go to this app when I want ‘trusted’ source of information.

Will not load news frequently, smooth scrolling not possible. Herky-jerky, on iPad Mini 4. Too bad the website is quite unreadable on iPad, with very small fonts. Needs work for fluidity and quick loading; sub-par for now on iPad.

Readability could be improved with better color fonts. Grey letters on white background is not readable for everyone. And grey fonts on black is even worse.

After the last update the app does not work on my iPad. The installation did not finished.

This is how apps should be. Fabulous UI, not only logical, but beautiful as well. If developers want a masterpiece example of clean and beautiful UI they should consult the makers of this app.
Keep it as it is. No need for fancy videos, no need for adds, no need for celeb news.

The Reuters app is absolutely stunning both on the iPhone and iPad. Works great, always up-to-date, and very trustworthy news. Superb!
