Overcast: Podcast App

Interface is great and I love the level of customization that’s available throughout the app. Tried a handful of other apps and none of them were as pleasant to use. Have been a Premium subscriber for years and happily pay the annual renewal :)

It is hard to summarize everything in a line or two. I have experienced multiple bugs related to AW over recent years. The recent one is playback will loop over a short section instead of the full recording. It is very distracting during exercise, because that is when I leave my phone at home and rely on watch app completely. It is a shame because iOS and macos version works pretty well and I planned long term support for this app. Now i’m back to the built in podcast app for less features and more stability.

Just good. Adjustable to your likings. A bit strange to me that the default order is newest to oldest. But that’s easily adjustable.

I love it. There are so many features that give me the control I want. Like there’s a per-show “skip intro” feature, an auto-download feature I can set to Wi-Fi only, and manual episode deletion. Sharing works wonderfully, too as I can share a link to a whole ep or the link at a certain spot. Thanks

I just really love this podcast app. I like how it has all these features in a really practical manner. It hasn’t failed me in the years that I’ve used it.

Easily the best podcatcher out there, and it’s not even close. Especially if you listen to a lot of podcasts, like I do, this has exceptional attention to detail, from Smart Speed skipping silences even if you don’t need faster playback to very customizable controls and playlists that make sense. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Overcast has been my goto podcasts app for years now. After every major iOS release, the developer is attentive to fix bugs and address issues that are usually not even their fault.

I always look for alternatives to build in apps, and overcast has just been so simple and so smooth. No complaints!

The best podcast app by far! However, since release 2021.1 the synchronization with my Apple Watch is unreliable. Played podcasts aren’t deleted automatically (and you can’t remove them). New downloads to my Watch (when charging) keep failing. Please fix!

Great and easy to use podcast player. One thing on my wishlist: add an archive function to the homescreen.

Every detail of this app has been very well considered. From settings like voice boost and smart speed, to accessibility labels and functions like undoing a change in playback position.

Ik kan mijn vinger er niet precies op leggen, maar na de redesign moet ik zoveel nadenken bij deze app. Het is niet gewoon wennen. Deze app wijkt in veel aspecten subtiel af van wat je intuïtief verwacht dat een app zou doen. Het voelt ook zo chaotisch dat er niet echt een home is. Ja de hele app is home, maar het voelt niet als een home tab. Daarnaast is er bijv geen long-tab voor meer opties, geen edit knop om meerdere afleveringen te selecteren, playlists staan altijd vol in beeld maar ik gebruik ze niet, en zo zijn er heel veel dingen.
Echt apart, terwijl ik zo lang zo’n fan was van deze app.

Since a recent update, it no longer downloads and syncs to my Apple Watch. I could listen to podcasts offline so I didn’t have to bring my phone, which was perfect.
Now, it completely stopped working and there is no fix. I don’t know why or how they broke it, but Overcast became useless for me unfortunately.

I mainly listen to podcasts from my Apple Watch. Since the (previous?) big redesign downloading to the watch changed. Options are while charging or now keeping screen on. Neither seems to work reliably. Latest overhaul seems no better.

Was very much looking forward to the new and improved watch app…… but unfortunately it just keeps saying ‘Open Overcast on your iPhone to continue’. Restarted both apps, and both devices, but this doesn’t seem to help. Hope this is fixed soon!
