Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat

For reasons that completely escape me, especially in an era when digital privacy should be taken seriously, Grindr has disabled its blocking feature. I don’t want everyone on the app having access to my private life. It’s called a private life for a reason. Removing such a basic privacy safeguard is irresponsible. Bring it back.

Het is mij een raadsel hoe deze app gemiddeld op 4,2 sterren uitkomt, terwijl vrijwel elke recente review 1 ster geeft. Sinds Grindr commercieel is gegaan, draait alles om geld en abonnementen, terwijl de functionaliteit alleen maar verslechtert.
De app wordt overspoeld door nep-profielen, bots, fakers en phishers. Grindr claimt in te zetten op AI, maar slaagt er niet eens in de meest voor de hand liggende nep-accounts eruit te vissen. Terugkerende fakers worden blijkbaar niet eens geblokkeerd, hoe vaak je ze ook rapporteert. Ook lopen er vreemde profielen rond met alleen een getal als naam, die op de een of andere manier alle regels weten te omzeilen.
De userbase wordt bovendien steeds toxischer. Binnen 'Right Now' en de gewone feed sturen lege accounts zonder foto of stats je een 'hi' of een tap. Veel van deze wegwerpprofielen lijken te worden gebruikt door mensen die diep in de kast zitten en overal anoniem tussendoor glippen.
Daarnaast zijn de reclames pure pesterij. Ze verschijnen op de meest ongelegen momenten met waardeloze mobiele games. Je betaalt bij Grindr niet voor betere functies, maar puur om de irritatie af te kopen die ze zelf bewust hebben ingebouwd. De belachelijk dure abonnementen zijn het simpelweg niet waard.
Als kers op de taart zijn de reacties van de klantenservice op de reviews hier overduidelijk door bots geschreven. Ze slaan de plank volkomen mis en er wordt absoluut niets met de kritiek gedaan. Een hele zware onvoldoende.

Grindr really pulled up to Milkshake Festival with a huge bus, a drag queen and a Wheel of Fortune like they were about to make Oprah proud: “YOU get Premium! YOU get Premium! EVERYBODY gets Premium!”
Plot twist: everybody got the same code and apparently only one person could actually redeem it.
Probably they forgot to budget the prizes.
Contacted support, but they seem to have ghosted me — which, to be fair, is probably the most authentic Grindr experience of the entire promotion.

I was happy using Grindr. It felt safe and good, just what we all need. Almost a month ago, I wanted to use Grindr, but they banned me. For what? Because they assumed I was asking for money on the app!? I tried to appeal the ban twice and emailed them, but I received no response. I explained that I did not do this, but I am still banned. Grindr, please fix this and don’t ban people who really enjoy using the app! So sad and disappointed.

I have the Grindr extra for several years now, in the beginning it was great but it’s starting to get annoying again. I’m paying €80 a year so I don’t have to watch all those advertisements now since a few months, I’m writing this July 26 they’re putting advertisement in the Grindr extra.
As a Grindr xtra user I’m not happy with that !
Also they used let you talk to people all over the world unlimited , nowadays you can talk to just a few Internationals a day
So the xtra (paid) subscibtion isn’t really worth its money and became annoying.
GRINDR values making money over the user experience .

The navigation in a chat often disappeares - both on iPad and iPhone. Only way to get out of a chat is forced restart.

Nice Guys op de app die bijna allemaal zoeken wat jij ook zoekt zoals je weet wel. Zelf een vrsbtm Leidenaar

The pop up ads and bots make it almost unusable. Shame this is still the largest app for the gay community. It’s pretty much trash for user experience.

I get constant spam messages or likes. It’s getting ridiculous now, about 50 times a day!

Ooit leuke app nu volledig verk****rd door het grote geld en commercie. Zelfs de basisfuncties als berichten verzenden en ontvangen werken niet als je niet dik betaalt. Bah

Je wordt steeds meer beperkt in de app met kunnen dan in het verleden. Als je niet bepaalt is de
App niet meer basic te gebruiken

Not happy by putting adds everywhere and blocking all the features under stupidly high subscription prices now you are cutting also all the old features… I cannot even see who looked at my profile 1h ago now. This app is the worst!

Still a lot of spam bots and now all of a sudden a lot of people contacting me have a job in finance and want to WhatsApp since they don’t spend a lot of time on Grindr? This app could really use a feature that, if you make a profile, you have to verify you’re human.

Pay over 100€ a year to get add free version. No madonna pops op on the grid. Bye bye grindr
