Freedom: Screen Time Control

I first heard about this app through various posts and recommendations online, so I decided to try it and started the 3-day trial. Unfortunately, I forgot to actually use the app during those days, and on the third day I was automatically charged for a full year.
I tried to cancel the purchase right away, but the request was declined. Over the past few days I attempted to use the app, and honestly I didn’t find it useful at all for reducing my screen time.
Considering my experience, I genuinely don’t understand why there is so much positive promotion of this app online. It honestly feels like the company may be paying people to advertise it.

Too easy to bypass it on iPhone, simply it off in ‘screentime’. So what’s the deal

Freedom app really helped me to cut down on unwanted distractions. And makes you painfully aware of all the moments you were normally distracted.

Half the time apps are not being blocked. If I schedule a blocking session it never starts working at the programmed time. And there is no obstacle what so ever in overruling the blockage.

I want to limit myself on my phone. After all we’re all addicted. Unfortunately it doesn’t work properly. I payed €70 and still there to many days that the app isn’t working. Now I lost a lot of money (€70) ánd time I spent on my phone. I find it remarkable that a app with these costs isn’t working.

It would be great if Apple Shortcuts would be integrated and if there would be a lock/strict mode per session
To put the cherry on top if this app has interventions (check ins after a certain time) that would be amazing.
Would give 5 stars if it would have these features.

It is the only system that helps me get off social media when someone is wrong there.

I regret buying the yearly subscription. It’s expensive and I stopped using it after a month or so. If you have an iPhone, you basically have the same functionality for free. Freedom automatically renews when your subscription has ended. I think this is a really predatory model as it relies on customers not remembering to cancel the subscription and thus being charged for a service they no longer use. I emailed support as soon as it automatically renewed as I don’t use freedom anymore and definitely would not use it at all for the year they charged me for. They never got back to me.

Im not using it any more, because it disturbs my workflow in the apps I need for my business. Im Very disappointed in this app.

It’s impossible to exclude certain apps from being blocked. You guys need to fix that.

maybe i am dumb but free version didn’t work for me, each time i tried to start a session it asked for money and “maybe later didn’t help”. i spent 10 mins setting it up for finding out it won’t work without money. it addition i wasn’t able to delete my account before deleting the app

Unfortunately this app is not working if you’re already connected to a VPN, it will disable your current VPN and use the Freedom.to VPN for filtering content. Seems to be an iOS issue tho, it works fine on other devices.

Great app, but from the start the app block search function keeps freezing and it’s still not fixed.

Works great, would be even better if the amount of apps/categories that can be selected, would be bigger. Possibly an iOS limitation. Other improvement would be te ability to customise an existing blocklist as a starting point for the next.

Ik heb de premium versie van de app gekocht. Meestal werkt de app prima, en gaan de apps die ik heb ingesteld op slot wanneer ik dat heb ingesteld. Echter gaat het slot er soms opeens vanaf, terwijl de sessie volgens de app nog loopt. Ook is het irritant dat de app niet werkt in energiebesparingsmodus. Dat is op zich makkelijk op te lossen door deze uit te zetten, maar toch vervelend. Maar vooral dat de app dus ook zonder energiebesparingsmodus niet altijd goed werkt!

So happy with this app, I struggle with keeping off social media and this is a great way to block the automatic opening of apps. Used it a lot during studying and now while working, I recommend getting premium.

Youtube algorithms and many distractions online are designed to keep you on there platform for as long as possible. It was really difficult for and i wasted a lot of time before i started using this app.
