Evoland

The game tries to be a celebration of games such as The Legend and Zelda and Final Fantasy. It succeeds in invoking that same nostalgia while still showing its roots through its indie development. By that I mean it being apparent that it’s an experimental game that lacks polish. Here are some examples:
-Not being told or not being apparent that the game auto-saves on certain spots. There is a save point which I thought was the only way to save your game. Communicating this better would have helped with the way I would have played the game.
-Text overlapping the text box sometimes. It looks amateurish and it is not possible to read some text on rare occasions.
-When you select attack, you are not able to cancel in order to select a different action. It is possible to cancel magic and select another action though. So it’s odd that you can’t do the same with attacking (turn based mode).
-Grammar mistakes with the localisation (English language).
However, the above mentioned is negligible compared to how fun the game is. The references are fitting. The writing is self-aware and funny. The gimmick with 3D and 2D works wonderfully. It takes around 3-6 hours to complete the game depending on whether you do the optional quests or not. I ended up being satisfied with the game and wanting more. I’m looking forward to playing Evoland 2.

Naast het feit dat het een vette RPG is is de transformatie van een antieke game naar moderne heerlijk om in korte tijd mee te maken. Het is een uniek concept wat het zo geweldig maakt.

If You like Zelda you Will like this game.
Game starts with Graphics of a 8 bit game but later on it Will be a mix between Zelda and final fantasy. Graphics will also be 64 bits eventually. I've finished the game and loved it. All this work done only by 2 programmeurs..

The evolution of games starts off as an interesting mechanic but slowly becomes an annoying gimmick. Lacks features, story and overall originality in the end.

Evolutie van games is leuk uitgevoerd thema. Maar gameplay zelf laat te wensen over. De control van met name bewegen ("joystick") is te onhandig voor de levels die opeens heel moeilijk zijn ivm de vorige levels. Je komt dan niet verder en moet al vrij snel de game opgeven. Als je m voor 99 ct kunt krijgen wel ff leuk.

Een reis door rpg tijd. Een aanrader voor Final Fantasy liefhebbers. Dit spel is zeker een van mijn favorieten voor op de iPad.

Game freezes completely often startup. Even a reboot and removing and reinstalling the app doesn't help. Complete Useless!
