Couchsurfing: Stay, Meet, Host

Im using Couchsurfing for 8 years. It used to be a great app. After the redesign it’s not fun anymore. It’s hard to find communities, hard to get in touch with people and the hangouts are not working anymore. Im considering to cancel, if it won’t get better. Unfortunately.

I used to enjoy the app a lot. It was simple, well structured and had a good overview
Now it feels more like commercial and pushy. Way too many things moving snd not so well structured as before. Also the ‘verified’ is more pushed in your face
Anyway, I am not a fan of the way pictures are shown. It is more difficult to find an overview and some pictures are cropped in weirdly. Please bring back the overview
Also it is difficult to see if someone is actually hosting people. Before it said that very clearly and now it’s more difficult to find that
So not a fan. Also aware that it will probably not change back to the old version but these things I miss and find valuable.

Sadly the recent overhaul killed it. It really pains me to say but i am leaving, after ten years of making friends.

Stupid app, i stopped using it a year ago but can’t easily stop the payment of my account. It’s an unfriendly app iff you want to stop using it!

It is the worst update which can be possibly imagined. They ruined the app completely. Before it was simple and clear. Now it's just a mess. It's almost impossible to find a host/surfer now.

Lousy platform. Can't fi d anything and I have no option as host to clearly choose not available, maybe available, or accepting guests. I pay to have people stay with me for free. At least make it easy and give me the option. I'm not interested in "chats" just in potential guest. Change back to the old format which was perfect. If it's not broken..... !

Played for the subscription but I only get an error message and app doesn’t work. I want my money back

most things don’t work example hosting and getting hosted request, unnecessary features like visiting any place triggers, “create a trip “ any seems like everyone left

This 2026 platform update is so disappointing… The user experience is horrible, core past functionalities have not been carried into the new version. The interface is confusing and bleak. Whoever was in charge of this app update - you failed!

This app is updatet 2026 and the website too… the whole programm and spirit (sleeping at someones couch) is suckt up. Many mails and advertisements aboutall kind of not usable stuff. Many people are leaving the group now. It s very sad.

Whoever thought this vibe coded mess would be great is really delusional. So many key features are just gone. Like blocking certain dates in my calendar. Now I get 20 requests per day for dates I already know I’m not available

Since the recent update, I’ve been locked out of my account. Even though I have a paid subscription, the app is asking for payment again. Support promised a fix days ago, but I still don’t have access. Disappointing experience for a paid member. Please fix this.

They are a selling it as a new experience as a lifetime change. Yeah to the exit.
Slow, if responsive, all kinds of options have disappeared, and what you we get back? Nothing!
Is this where we pay our subscription for?

I actively host and stay with people, but this latest update is awful. Please bring everything back the way it was.

I haven’t actually couchsurfed in years but I do use the app to make new friends in new places :)

So many people would love a free place in Amsterdam, but no way I’m going to pay for hosting them.

I Had amazing experiences using this app since 2017, it connects travelers with locals and helped me meet many people in many countries who became friends! Thank you so much !
