Castro: Podcast App & Player

The app itself is brilliant, I absolutely love it, thank you!
My only complaint is the app’s performance after Liquid Glass update, looking forward to a fix

I love Castro but please don’t change the app icons world wide for festivities we don’t care about. Also why would you change the app icon. This is my phone, my choice of apps and my curated Home Screen. I really had to look three times to see the icon had the Castro logo in it.
5 stars for the app. 1 of the five stars is for the “free U2 album pushed to every iPhone “-like icon change. ;-)

Ik heb Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocketcasts en Castro geprobeerd. Uiteindelijk is het Castro geworden. Simpel, genoeg features, een queue waarbij de gebruiker zélf in charge is en een goede prijs. Helemaal top dus

Castro often has been my go-to podcast app, but the recent updates have taken it to the next level. The improved performance, and smoother app-use makes listening even more enjoyable. So glad to see Castro thriving again!

When I’m in the mood for one particular show, and select it from the library, not the queue, then after finishing the episode I want it to play the next episode of the same podcast, not the queue. It seems impossible.

I’ve been using Castro as my favorite (and only) podcasting app for many years. I’ve even subscribed to the quarterly plan to show my appreciation for the app, however, I’m not really making use of the extra’s offered by the subscription. Therefore, a proposed price increase from €3.99 to €9,99 is a no-go. The app still is a good one, but this leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

I purchased this app back in the Supertop days and thought I’d give it another go. It’s still a nice app although some unnecessary stuff has been added like filters that clutter the UI somewhat.
When the app initially went to subscription I supported it for a while, but since then, the price has increased 250%. I can’t justify this when Overcast is still 9.99 a year. And unlike Overcast, Castro doesn’t have the courtesy to hide ads for those who purchased the original app.

Hi! Thanks for the update which means that my favourite podcast player is still alive and kicking. Question though, why do new podcast episodes appear hours later on Castro than on some other players? At least, that seems to be the case in the Netherlands. Thanks for your comments and keep up the good work!

Servers not reachable sind Jan 04. No communication from developers on other platforms as to why

Castro was the best, now it no longer useable, at least for this Dutch user. Several podcasts are missing.

Sinds afgelopen weekend krijg ik de podcasts waarop ik geabonneerd ben niet meer binnen met Castro. Niks werkt meer in deze app. Van podcast-favoriet naar absoluut onbruikbaar. Heel erg jammer.

Nothing loads. I’ve even resorted to deleting the app and reinstalling it (losing all of my subs and history because it didn’t even let me export). It’s just spinning a wheel and then giving a time-out.

I was a happy user for years, but after some hiccups last year the free version of the app stopped updating a couple of days ago. So this is the end, on to a new app. So sorry, it used to be a nice app.

I’ve used this app quite happily for a couple of months now (registered user, yearly sub) but lately it’s become unusable due to ’authentication errors’. I’ve notified support, included screenshots of the errors, but no word back for days now. Also re-installed the app to no avail. I’m back with the Google Podcasts app but I ‘mourn’ the loss of this app.

Used to be one of the best podcast players around but sold to random developers who abandoned the app

App works normal, but when I try to open via CarPlay the app stops working. This occurred since version 2023.14.
