Scrivener

I've been using scrivener on my mac for many years now. I finally decided to install it on my iPhone too. Found out quickly that it only works with dropbox sync.
Dropbox doesn't work anymore on my (older in technology terms) macbook pro OS. I cannot upgrade due to software i need being incompatible with newer a OS. I have icloud and koofr. But I can use neither with scrivener. Such a limitation! I canceled my purchase, but I'm really hoping to one day be able to use it with icloud or koofr.

I use the app on the iPad since it came out, essentially, and years before on the Mac. It's a shame that updates don't come often enough, bugs are not eliminated and the layout and functioning of the app doesn't have enought attention by the company. I am now in the final phase of finishing a book, and will turn to Ulysses, after the app consistently crashes and doesn't give me access to some of the sections included in it. A shame, but I need to do work and not worry about the software at all times.

The columns in the tables part of the documentary script template is very buggy. Columns disappear miraculously. For a price of 20 euro that should not be the case. The app hasn't been updates for a year now aswel.

Crashes and deleted 5000 words I had written. No back up anywhere. I have just started using it and was learning the ropes. Crazy that there is zero backup when using this, seems like a handy back-up would be a great feature in a writing app. Shame.

I had hoped and tried to look around to see if the app had the corkboard feature and was sad to find out it didn’t. I hope it’ll be added soon.

Love the iOS app. I hate the fact that my iOS app does not mean I get the OSx app though

Scrivener is just a must have if you want/need to write long documents. It only took messing around with it for a bit to figure out how to navigate the app— it’s decently intuitive with plenty of options. The only thing I wish they added was other cloud service support. The syncing with Dropbox is on the slow side and I have to keep a Dropbox account around just for the purpose of having my files stored safely. I hope more cloud services will be available in the future!

Ik heb de Windows versie (3, beta momenteel), en heb lang gewacht met de app, maar nu ik hem heb betreur ik het dat ik deze niet eerder heb genomen. Ik kan op de iPhone nalezen en redigeren, zeer handig.

I use the desktop and the iOS a lot. But recently I can not open my projects anymore in the iOS version. Please fix this

So i use the app now for several weeks on a new book project. I am mainly very happy with the app also on my mac where I use it most of the time.
Working in it is easy however the setup and formating I find not so straight forward and keeps me searching. Also output is not always even perfect and needs additional work.
Main thing i am missing is onedrive support. I do not want to another cloud service againg since I already have three and am paying for them. To get another subscription on Dropbox is to much. So I hope this will change in the near future.

If you want to sync your files for use with Scrivener on other platforms, or to just save them in the cloud, it forces you to use DropBox, which reserves the right to decrypt any and all of your files and share it with 3rd parties!

Honestly, I love it so much! It is all I need for writing!
However, I use a lot of tables in my outlining etc. and would love if this feature is improved. Because when I edit existing tables, they morph and get screwed up. And maybe a way to see documents that follow each other in order as i scroll, like in the desktop app. But Even despite this, I love the app!

Deze app synchroniseert via Dropbox ongelooflijk goed en snel wat ik schrijf op de Mac of de iPad. Verplaatsen van files op de iPad lukt me nu nog niet. Op de Mac no problem. Aanrader!

Guys, you created a great app for iOS but syncing with iCloud is not possible. This can be better!

Om stukken te schrijven, geweldig: past helemaal bij een creatieve -ik schrijf op wat er in me op komt, en orden het later wel- werkwijze. Maar wat een vreselijke ramp is synchroniseren met een Mac of PC, als je daar ook maar een oudere versie van een project opent denkt ie dat de versie op dropbox de nieuwste is en moet je een truck uithalen (project op de iPad hernoemen) om het werk op je iPad te redden. Kom op jongens, dit moet toch eleganter kunnen!

Na lang zoeken en proberen is Scrivener for iOS eindelijk het programma dat mij helpt bij het schrijven. Inclusief outlining en research!

Scrivener is very well made in every detail. Now I can work on my iPad in the train, or on my iPhone if I want to make notes. It is really amazing. Thank you guys!

I eagerly awaited Scrivener for iOS for my iPad Pro. Often, when expectations are so high, you set yourself up for disappointment. However, Scrivener for iOS is a delight to use. Syncing with Dropbox works very well, and it has become my main writing tool in just days. Well done!
