I really like this app for its core functionality—counting calories. The recipe selection and fasting features are also great additions for those who use them. However, the recent UI updates over the past year have been increasingly questionable.
The newly introduced 'streak counter' seems to contradict the primary goal of counting calories and promoting healthy eating habits. Is the aim to shift user focus towards changing their dietary habits and their relationship with food, or merely to keep a virtual streak going? Which approach do you think will yield more lasting results?
Additionally, the streak is already somewhat visible in the calendar overview (marked as green days), so why add a separate UI element on the main page? It would be better integrated within the calendar or, alternatively, have an option to disable it.
While the developers generally seems responsive to feedback and makes adjustments when users are not happy with the changes, testing such features in a production feels wrong. Why not introduce a 'preview program' to gather user feedback on changes before they are implemented for everyone?
